Agree although i really want is for us to get out of this league at the end of the season.

The way I see it, the longer we're in this competition, the more weekend games get called off, the lower our attendances become in midweek, which in turn leads to a loss in revenue for the club with no real gain other than the possibility of a bit of silver in the cabinet.
Personally I was never interested in the Hillier Senior Cup, and neither judging by attendances were the majority of the Diamonds support. I actually think the attendance at this game will compare favourably to the Hillier Cup attendances but from a personal point of view i'm sorry i'm just not interested. If it was a midweek game it would actually create a bit of revenue for the club as a bit of a 'bonus game' but because some of the teams in the competition aren't capable of hosting midweek matches that's knocked that on the head.
The NSYL Cup was totally different because it was all we had at the time.
I'm also going to do something I don't do often and apologise ( ;) ). The Micky Mouse comment earlier was poor from me, it was just frustration on my part.

If I had it my way I'd be there on Saturday.. but my dad seemed reluctant because "its only a cup game" as he put it.
I'll see him on Thursday, so he may have changed his mind by then, especially if I tell him the new beer will be available! :P
If not, then I'll have to find alternative transport.

It was all we had after we knew we weren't going to win the league, had been knocked out of the County Cup and before the Jaymann Shield started !
It's like the Setanta shield when we were in the conference, no ever used to care for the league cup competition after the FA Cup and FA Trophy but once we got to the final some people class it amongst their top games whilst supporting R&D.
We may just be glad of this competition come the end of the year so lets not belittle it before it's even begun (feel free if we get knocked out on Saturday! ;) ).
Trek - thanks for the name of the Whitworths player, I was just going to shout abuse randomly but now I can direct my wrath.

At the end of the day people can think what they want but we have a club, we're playing on a Saturday! It should be as simple as that to want to go and support the lads (if you are able to make it).

Exactly! I'm going to try and avoid posting about this again after this one, because I've made my point clear. I've been to every game this season and I've enjoyed all of them and that's because I'm watching us building to something meaningful - promotion and a good run in the Vase. Things that will have a big impact on the club; to get us back to where we were and to maybe get to Wembley, respectively. What will going far in this Cup get us?
As I've said I'll be donating my fiver to the club on Saturday (and urge people who aren't going to do the same) because I don't want it to lose out. At the end of the season I'm looking forward to the possible excitement of promotion or Wembley, the JC doesn't matter at all compared to these two objectives and I fear it could hamper them.
Btw I completely understand the other POV, I realise it's really stupid not to be going to an available match after spending a year with no Saturday football, but I want to be at every League and Vase match this season and I have a much better chance of achieving this if we're not in the JC.

far be it for me to tell anyone they should go to any match, it's about personal opinion. For me i just think back to how i felt without saturday football last season and that makes me want to go and be thankful for saturday football again.

The alternative for me is decorating the utility room and tidying out the garage............no contest really

Would you still have avoided the game if we had of crashed out of the Vase? Cup runs can come to an abrubt end sooner than you think
