I think it boils down to clubs in the competition lacking floodlights. The Hillier Cup is played midweek, as all the clubs are at least Step 5 where they must have floodlights.

I know this region is not the only one to suffer this problem but why don't the clubs get together and change the situation or do other clubs not mind the situation or is it a case of not rocking the boat and upsetting the blazer brigade that run football.
The Lower Junior Cup (which is the competition that Chenecks' reserves are playing in on Saturday) is competed for by reserve teams at Step 5 and 6, and first teams from Step 7 (and possibly below) - most of which won't have floodlights. Therefore they have to play their games at weekends.

The fact that these take priority over not only their own league games, but the club's first team's league games as well, does seem ludicrous. I don't know how other clubs are our level feel about this though.

We actually have an open meeting with the UCL in a few weeks where clubs can raise any issues or concerns; this will certainly be something we will bring up.

Talking of floodlights i think i read that the F.A were going to get tougher on this issue in ground grading and all teams at step 6 must have them by 2014 or be relegated.

This will necessitate a re-arrangement I suppose as it cannot be replayed midweek due to lack of floodlights?

The 23rd of March, our free weekend, sees Chenecks away at Buckingham.

We do have some weekends after the 13th of April, but more games to fit in.

Knowing them, they'll probably move one the big easter weekend games to midweek to accommodate it

But why couldn't they play the reserve game in the morning?

Ahh but Olly, this is the UCL where every player has the right to go on the piss the night before a game right? Remember the NYD game vitriol from certain other UCL clubs? ;)
