I went to the Thrapston match yesterday, and I don't know if you thought the same as me, but the article doesn't tell the reader how rude, offensive and arrogant the Rushden fans are, and how obsessed they are with K*ttering.

I've been to many a football match in my time on this planet but I've never heard such foul and abusive language used so openly (I lost count how many times they chanted that the linesman was a fat c***). Add on that the abuse towards the Thrapston players about their family members and the on-going chants about K*ttering (it took them a whole thirty seconds of the match to start their first) and I must admit that any respect I had for what they have achieved since their club folded was lost.
I didnt even notice the linesman, and what would we know about the thrapston players family for a start.
Nonsense, sure they sang 'how shit must you be, if K*ttering said no' quite a bit to the goalie who was ex-K*ttering but 'rude, offensive and arrogant' is a load of bull****, they're just playing around, they could have supported the team a little bit more I guess (though 3-0 up in 20 minutes meant they didn't really need the support for long) but many of their chants are light-hearted and funny.

And their fans can hardly talk, what is it they sing, something about shooting the Diamond scum isn't it, I don't think they can have a go at us

I think a couple of songs would be regarded as offensive if an outsider was listening and didn't get the context of it. Joe Chubb got some personal abuse, but he's a good friend of mine and when I spoke to him earlier his response was 'Was all good fun! Looking forward to playing you lot again next season when you don't get promoted ;) x' another that would come across as arrogant would probably be that 'thrapstons a shithole, I wanna go home' and that was tongue in cheek as 3 of our mates are Thrapston born and bred, although we have now learnt our lesson (the hard way) that that wasn't the wisest of choices.

No body means to be too offensive :)

And why aren't they at steel park supporting their own flipping team, just sums it up really, you would have thought their fans would be walking over hot coals to try an keep their club afloat even The manager asked for their support last week.

The 'x is a shithole I wanna go home' is undoubtedly the most annoying chant that's cropped up in this country over the last few years. Kick it out I say! ;)

The banter aimed at the keeper was pretty good natured and he took it very well to be fair to him. The trouble is playing in this league is like playing in a goldfish bowl and some people won't understand the banter. For example on Saturday I knew a few of the Thrapston lads personally and they would be disappointed if they didn't get a bit of stick. As for the Thrapston's a shit hole chant... I think it was a bit naive however there was no offence intended but those that sang it, I certainly didn't take offence ;) however I can see how people could be. The irony was saying Thrapston's a shithole... When... We play in Wellingborough. Enough said. Admittedly on a couple of occasions the line has been crossed but it is a learning curve for a lot of people. After watching RDFC play in the football league\ conference for many years it is different culture watching AFC playing on pitches with just a barrier surrounding it.

The 'keeper must have been glad when the second half finished as he got stick all through it. He did have the good grace to turn and applaud the fans at the end, unlike other 'keepers who have offered to see them outside.

The whole Thapston team laughed when the vertically challenged number 7 (who is a good player) cam back to defend a corner and was greeted by the chant of "who's the midget on the post?"

With the level of football we watch now it's very difficult to expect our fans to behave like choirboys when you can hear the opposition players tell the ref how much of a (insert insult of choice here) he is and the opposition managers spend all the games moaning at their own players, pitch, refs and standard of half-time tea.

I think that was sung with tongue's very much in cheek a bit like when the Cobblers played at the Country Ground and sang "s*&* ground, no fans at every away fixture"

I do think that use of the c-word should not be accepted and that is probably something that will have to come from within, with fans telling other fans who use the word that it is unacceptable.

Fully agree in regards to the c-word although when it was used in Deakin's song 'we're all ugly c-words too' there is no nastiness intended and it is meant to be self depreciating by those singing it. When it is used in a vicious way that it unacceptable. If people are offended by the word in any context then I'm sure a less offensive word could be used.

Yet I can't help but laugh whenever I hear them sing it wherever we turn up, they were singing it before they even got into the ground on Saturday
