I'm guessing he has, it would be a bit pointless to sign another keeper otherwise! Even though he's provided me with a catchphrase - "WHAT ARE YOU DOING QUINCY?!" - and generally given me several near-heart attacks, I do feel for him. Hopefully he'll stick around until the end of the season and can experience the promotion euphoria with us, he was the main part of (IMO) the best game of the season.

You're forgetting the fact that Quincy has been playing with an injury for the last couple of games, so Cross may just be cover until he has recovered fully.

Dave can you confirm whether Grainger is eligible to play for us or not, as Thrapston seem quite adamant he's registered with them...

Wouldn't ask dave to comment, but I would assume that cross has either come in as cover (as he suggests) or as simple competition, with fouler going out on loan, as he really needs to get some games under his belt IMO.

Either way, cross sounds to be a decent signing to me with his pedigree. I'm not one of the Quincy bashes, as I think he is the best 'keeper we have seen in the league. However, completion is always good, and IMO, fouler is not quite ready for first team football just yet.

Don't mean to be rude but how was this allowed to happen? And perhaps more worryingly, how did the player himself not know he was signed on for another club?

Thank God he didn't play a game.

I spoke to Daniel today, he signed for Thrapston to help a mate out at the start of the season, but as he didn't play he wasn't aware that his registration was still valid. Next season who knows?

As RH has mentioned, Dan didn't realise he was still registered to Thrapston, and in fairness to him he did apologise today for telling us he was unattached.

We want any transfer news to appear on our official website first, before it gets made public on Facebook, Twitter or anywhere else. Therefore we publish all stories once the registration has been submitted to the UCL. The downside of this is that it is possible for instances like this to occur, if a player forgets or doesn't realise he is registered elsewhere. Unfortunately there is no easy way of checking to see if a player is registered elsewhere, without trawling through the squad list of every club on the UCL website.

The UCL don't usually acknowledge or confirm registrations when they are received, they just add the player to the relevant squad list on the website, meaning the information is then out there in the public eye for all to see. On this occasion, they did notify us that Dan was registered elsewhere so there was never any danger of him playing for us illegally.
