You do realise our players / staff (and those of AFC Dunstable) have jobs etc, and have to book time off work in some cases?
Can't see your point Formic. The England game has been scheduled for months. Replay on Weds, when as far as I'm aware, there' s nothing on at the D&D. A no brainer IMO. As I said we could have attracted a decent crowd. Unfortunately that's now in doubt... :(
I don't think the crowd will be affected at all. We played a game when Man U were playing Real Madrid last season and that wasn't affected. If people want to stay at home then it's their choice. 8-)

Perhaps those who suffered the wall-to-wall dross in the Garry Hill days realise what we have now is worth supporting.
Very true, for much of one of those seasons under Hill I simply didn't look forward to Diamonds's matches, if I hadn't have had a season ticket, I think I actually would have skipped a few of the home games, it was that tedious. Thankfully, when JE came in, I haven't felt that way since, this current team we've got is very good to watch as well, especially with Faz back.
I must say I'm slightly disappointed at it being on the same night as the important England match, the national team still means something to me (despite some tedious football in recent times), but I will, with only a few very rare exceptions choose live Diamonds football over football on the telly, even if its a freezing night in February
300 would be a decent turnout imo, the FA Cup replay crowd surprised me somewhat but Vase isn't as big as our first Cup home Cup game.

Those were the days ..... I'll know when we are in trouble when Starms says that the team has to "turn around" ;)
IIRC wasn't it Garry always "turning round" to players and saying stuff? He'd often say it more than once in an interview, to make it sound like he was constantly spinning around in the middle of the dressing room.
Also "in respect of" is another great phrase of his, along with the legendary "errrrrr" of course. ;)
What was it that Ernie Tippett used to always say in interviews, something like 'the lads have been great in training this week', yet it never showed on the pitch

Haha! Those Hill/Tippett sayings are hilarious looking back. They weren't at the time though. The Tippett "the players have been great in training" line became an absolute joke. I'd totally forgotten about the Garry Hill "turn around".
Anyway, this is a huge game for England but chances of me missing a Diamonds game through choice are zero* so i'll be there as always. I imagine 300-350 will do the same.
*Junior Cup being the only exception.

This could be quite a pivotal week in our season. In a week's time we could be out of two of our three main aims for the season - or we could have got over a major hurdle in the Vase and be in with a chance of a game against the likes of Brackley Town.

No question for me, I'll be there on Tuesday night cheering the lads on.
Don't get me wrong, I like to see the national side do well, but if its a choice between international football and watching AFC R&D, I'll always chose the latter.

I guess had we played with half the team/management unavailable (and no volunteers to man the ground) you would be a) happy to see us lose with a depleted team and b) step up to do the work for those unavailable???? Maybe think next time before posting insults about people who work so hard eh? These things are thought out and decisions made for a reason!!
England v AFCRD?? No contest in my book, I can watch the England game when I get back home, judging by Friday's game it won't be any great shakes anyway !!
Oh and I think our "bunch of half wits" (the cap does fit for some of them ;) )have done a pretty good job for us so far

I wish I could've watched some of those training sessions, they sounded amazing!

Thanks I almost managed to forget about that game.
I would always choose watching us than England no contest. I'm as passionate about England as the next guy at the world cup but my club come first, especially when its a big game like Tuesday night so everyone needs to get down there and make some noise!!
