Re: Graham Street Prims in the Vase
Last year's rules did state that it was regionalised to the third round - but as we found out they were pretty broad regions by that third and last regionalised round. With it being regionalised for an extra round this year I guess they've kept it tighter at this stage.Everyweeker wrote:I'm certain that statement was the same last year (regarding third round regionalisation) yet they decided not to keep it so tight.Formic wrote:The Vase rules now state it is regionalised up to and including the fourth round - http://www.thefa.com/~/media/Files/PDF/ ... -2014.ashxOlly wrote:Happy with this draw against a great name as well, my dad will love it, he's called Graham! But a home draw to a step 6 team is a good draw at this stage, especially considering the strength of opposition we got at this stage last year, I'm sure they'll be no pushovers considering some of their Vase results, but I'd like to think it'll be a little easier getting through than last round ;)
Though in regards to regions, unless its just a coincidence that a lot of the games are pretty local, it seems to be still quite regionalised, at least more so than last year. Kidlington against Bodmin is probably the furthest distance (though its obviously understandable that there would be few games local for Bodmin), but in the north, there's no trips anything like ours last year at this stage.
That does seem to mean that in this round the teams furthest north were kept together in the first seven ties drawn.
Indeed, it was the same two years ago as this year I believe, which is why I was so stunned to see us travel to Ashington twelve months ago.
Last year the equivalent statement was - "(d) The Qualifying Competition and the First, Second and Third Rounds Proper shall be played on a regional basis"

Ah, I see what you mean now Formic - misread your previous post. Good spot as ever!
Disaster for me if we get through, no chance of Bodmin, Parkway or Saltash until Round 5 if any of us make it that far!

Fantastic draw for us, mainly because its home !!
They're in the last 64 on merit so will have to be treated with respect - but with home advantage we should progress if we play the way we can. If we show even 50% of the commitment displayed last Saturday then we should do it !!
Biggest threat now is the weather !! Forecast isn't looking good for the next few weeks :(
Delighted with this draw/tie though. Now make my week by taking 6 points from Yaxley and sleaford !! Don't want much do I?

Stone went bust in the summer unfortunately due to their chairman pulling out :(
Still have a thriving youth set-up though, and a friend of ours runs their Under 9's team. I believe they are looking to restart the Senior Side if they can find some funding.
