Went behind at Yaxley again today, though came back and won strongly in the end. Wellingborough will be a test for them next week though, they beat Deeping today.

I saw Deeping at Wellingborough today and was not impressed. Except for 10 minutes or so, just after Welly scored the opener, Deeping did very little but moan at the officials. Hard to believe that they had such a long unbeaten run. Wellingborough look difficult to break down, but I suspect Spalding are different class.

I am surprised at how well Wellingborough are doing this season, considering they were struggling at the bottom of the prem for most of last season.

Their team on paper is pretty strong and Jason Turner has scored 21 so far

A couple of Sleaford fans were bemoaning the late win by Spalding against them recently (96th minute) and I overheard them say the WEEKLY wage bill at Spalding is £4500!!!

Can that possibly be true?

Who is backing them for that amount and how long can it be sustained?

At least when Max was backing R & D he spent at least equal amounts on the ground and facilities.

I would be surprised if it's as much as £4500 a week. Someone in the Lincolnshire area on twitter who appears to be in the know last evening listed £3000 with their local competitors less than £1000. Pat Rayment's partner is into property development and is apparently assisting with their budget. Canonville, the Tulips skipper appears to be their highest earner.

Doubt it's that much though sure it's by far the biggest in the league. 2nd highest wage bill is I'm sure Deeping. When a player turns down a contract with a league club for UCL Prem it's safe to assume decent money is being paid. Had long chat with Welly manager this morning, a genuine nice bloke, who got lots of crap from the official UCL spanker (I may have made a spelling mistake) as did Wizza, sure like many I can't wait for Deeping and the travelling arse to visit the D&D.

£4500 a week, that's a conference budget

But this just goes to show that my fears were probably right, with Spalding, this is a bit different to last season or the seasons with Yeovil and Hartlepool, the gulf between us and Spalding is surely pretty large and I think only a catastrophe at Spalding would let anyone even challenge them for the title. Still looking forward to our games against them though, we've beaten teams from a level and 2 levels higher than us already this season, so who knows whether we might be able to cause an upset at Spalding.

Spalding's wage bill is £3k per week, Deepings is £2.2k.

I know this for a fact*.

*When I say fact I mean UCL fact which is basically make up what you don't know

Surely you forgot to mention our £10k a week budget David - that's a UCL Facebook FACT, as disclosed by Deeping's finest cyber warrior ;)
