This wasn't the best display and it seemed a few were avoiding any injuries ahead of the weekend Vase match. I thought the Newport midfield played well, or at least did more than us. Through the 2nd half, it did seem that if there was going to be a winning goal, then it would be for us, and so it proved to be. The difference between the teams was we had Dunks, and my MOM was Merrill.
3 points it is and I think with a couple of decent wins against the other top teams and we could be in with a shout for promotion.
I look forward to Saturday.

I think any ideas of that promotion top spot need to be curtailed until after Xmas. After Spalding have played us and Deeping, and maybe had points deducted we will have a much better picture of what lies ahead this season.

How about this for a comparison after 18 games (half way) with last season.

12-13 P18 W13 D3 L2 F48 A17
13-14 P18 W13 D2 L3 F47 A19

Bearing in mind we are playing in a higher division with not many changes from last seasons team I think the lads are doing great.

If it were not for the exceptional situation with Spalding we would certainly be very close to the top spot.

If you are on about Spalding getting a points deduction then I think this also needs forgotten about. They have been removed from the vase, and as stated on a twitter statement deemed a sufficient punishment. That will be the end of it, so lets concentrate on the league eh

Wait and see on that one, the statement was relating to the FA Vase, the same player was an unused sub in a league game and apparently the fact that he was unused does not mater, whether they get a points deduction is a mater for the UCL League comittee. Personaly I think a points deduction would be harsh but if they are deemed to of broken the rules they will have to accept any punishment.

I agree a points deduction is unlikely but the statement from the FA referred only to their position in the Vase .
The UCL may well want to investigate further, as there is the question of him being an unused sub in a game.

I don't think Spalding will be caught so the aim should be 2nd and seeing how far we can get in the Vase, as well as building the squad for next season. If we can wrestle 2nd away from Deeping and Huntingdon (bearing in mind their form) then it will be a great achievement for the 1st season in this league.

The UCL investigate   my side is splitting, god thats so funny, you ever tried the comedy store, go down a storm with that much comedy talent.

Sorry i am now calm, no points deduction warranted as he never stepped officially onto the pitch, lucky they never did a 89th minute sub or 3 points would have gone.

That title goes to Long F&^%$*g Buckby. All bets are off on that one.

Not a great performance, but three points at the end of the day.

Newport were up there with Long Buckby as the biggest moaners to visit The Dog & Duck!!

Great attendance for a cold Tuesday night, and we even had some away fans!

Although I think we'll have to play a lot better on Saturday if we want to progress.
