I believe that's cos he would have been in the u16s age group last season. He's on the new scholarship course.

Spoke with Richard Bunting, he only got back from holiday yesterday and also has had an operation on his hip during the close season.

I liked what I saw. Can't read too much into a friendly due to many reasons however the areas that we needed to strengthen appear to have been done and done in a very exciting way. Lamb-Johnson could be huge.

Interesting to see Callum Reynolds on the right for R&H, take it he's left us now?

Don't you mean Jake Reynolds?

Last heard Callum was at Boreham Wood.

Yeah, in May it was supposed to be wasn't it? I think its great news he seems to be still with us though, he was Kings Lynn's captain before he came to us wasn't he and moved because of the injury? To have him still here with us in the UCL will be fantastic, he's clearly a class above most players at this level, as are quite a few of this squad. Don't want to speak to soon, but unless Holbeach turn out to be another Spalding, then I'd be surprised if this team weren't challenging for the title come April.

But, great to get the preseason started, I'm not a big fan of friendlies and I've watched a hell of a lot of football over the past month, but I hope to come to a few of the D&D ones for sure.

jake(not callum) decided to take a season away from diamonds so he could have a bash/grow stronger in mens football,he is afterall still only 18 and never really tested himself at mens level.the under 21s would only mean 16 ish games and a few bit part games in cups,he could have went back to kempston, but with scott joseph returning and another striker from rugby id be pulling splinters out of his backside  , a few other clubs asked him to join them but decided to stay local with dale brunton knowing jake from corby town under 19
his idea is to come back to diamonds(if they'll have him back) and play for the under 21s when he is stronger /and fitter(he will still only be 19).....I have to say I was a little disappointed, but totally understand what he is doing and I will back him all the way ;) ;)

I think he's doing the right thing Duncan - he'll learn loads playing mens football and will become stronger and wiser for the experience.

I hope he does get a chance at Diamonds sometime in the future and I trust we won't lose our way as a club where young players are concerned - we're a community club and to be that we need to give young lads a route to first team football, I'd hate to see us just become like a lot of other clubs where players are constantly on the move and we're signing players from here there and everywhere and not bringing young players of our own through.

Jake's a good lad, I told you a few years ago you'd see him play for the first team and you did - he'll hopefully get a chance in the future and I reckon his strategy is spot on !!
