They still have Thurnby to play twice in the league and are going to have to work hard to a get a victory at their placePigman wrote:I see Holbeach won 3-4 aet in the end - shame, a replay would have been good for us!!

Quite similar game to Tuesday actually, took us a while to get going and not a lot was working until we scored and then in the second half again, a much better performance and a comfortable 3-0 win. Wasn't too sure about ELJ as the MOTM if I'm brutally honest, it was a bit of a hit and miss performance from him I thought, he sees a lot of the ball and is difficult to handle, but seemed to make the wrong decision and over or under hit crosses too often, he's a player with great potential though if he works hard on his game.
Looking forward to next week now very much and I really hope we can have both Gearing and Dunks starting for what would be the first time in months, I realise they may not have been 100% fit, but we've seen time and time again in the last few months of their quality when they've come off the bench, all right Gearing didn't get much time today (is he still lacking fitness or something?), but just simply the presence of a player like Dunks on the field can change a game and cause a UCL defence problems, so I feel he at least has to start next week.

Very convincing performance today, all over the pitch we were purposeful and pressed the ball, allowing a team who have scored a lot recently very few chances. The quality of the goals was superb, the deliveries for Joseph's two (from ELJ & Rogers) were as sublime as the finishes. Looked to be getting a bit of our old swagger back in the second half too, hopefully building confidence ahead of next week.
A word on ELJ - I thought he was a massive threat, particularly at 0-0 when the others hadn't quite found their rhythm. He never gave their defence a rest - few teams can cope with him in this form.

Good 3 points today. Agreed with ELJ as MOTM. (Although it could have been a number of players.)
Nice to see that Holbeach are still in the FA Vase, although a replay would have been nice. (Maybe Thurnby would be up for revenge

Come on Diamonds lets be positive in are next game at Holbeach and let's go out there and beat them, put the pressure on Holbeach.

A great performance from ELJ today, pace, direct, constant running and a nightmare for defenders. We have true quality on the wings for the first time at last. Dunks to start on Saturday with either Scott or turner, tough to choose. If we had started the season with this team we would be romping it.

I think the mark of how well Elliot played was that Sleaford pulled Scott Coupland back to help the left back on the second half.
Coupland is Sleaford best player, and for me one of the best in the division, so to make that change at half time with the score 1-0 tells you a lot

Great performance today, especially the second half which was just wave after wave of attack and great to watch. Definitely ELJ for MOM, but Sleaford's left back was absolutely horrendous.
Good to see Scott Joseph stick a couple away, two great finishes too. He's playing himself into form at the right time and should start next week alongside Dunkley. DUNKS MUST START AT HOLBEACH. With ELJ and Rogers whipping some great balls in as they did today it's imperative we have him in the middle.

Whilst I agree Dunks should start, especially if Lorraine is injured, he and Joseph haven't played together much (I don't think they've both started the same game), so the Dunkley / Turner partnership might be preferable to start with.BartonRaz wrote:Great performance today, especially the second half which was just wave after wave of attack and great to watch. Did anyone understand the incident in the first half that seemed to involve Brad Harris. The ref stopped play and spoke to Brad, with the Sleaford players calling for a red card (and the ref did appear to be going for a card at one point). He then restarted with a drop ball! Apart from that the officials seemed pretty decent.
Mind you, the Sleaford players did set high standards in whining and whingeing at the officials. Terry Fleming even used the fact he had named himself on the bench to "warm-up" behind the linesman in order to offer him "advice". I did wonder if his very prompt yellow card when he came on was partly due to an accumulation of moaning from the sidelines.
