Re: Sam Brown
Like everybody else I am sorry to see Sam go, the guy has given so much to our club in the past eight years, but times change and we have to move on.
In his case it is not a case of chasing the money, but more as he sees it looking for fresh challenges. Our clubs priority is always sustainability, even to the point that it becomes a bit of a mantra and even boring. some may say we lack ambition. But our whole ethos is that we cannot and will not chase wild dreams like so many other clubs, especially not at this moment in time. Stratford last season paid silly money at the start of the season but by November were shedding players. What they are reported to be offering Fairlamb is ridiculous for a Step 3 player. Banbury may have enticed Sam but are they any better financed than Stratford? St Ives have a sugar daddy for now but come the coronovirus second wave in the winter what will happen when the season is curtailed again. Any club entering into too many contracts is asking for trouble.(Dover?)
We are getting together a team of younger players who may not win the league and may not even chase the play offs (although personally i think we will) but they will entertain and we can be proud as they develop. I have high hopes for Paddy and Will Jones and so long as we hang onto Ben Aquaye, Jesse Akubine and fernando Bell Toxtle we will enjoy our season however long or short it is.
Andy Peaks is doing a tremendous job with a budget that is only half of many of his competitors in this division. As I said he is trying to get promising youngsters( his work with the under 16's and 18's is a real passion to him) so that they can develop and feel comfortable expressing themselves on the pitch. He buys in to the club ethos and has the support of the board and I am sure virtually all supporters.

Oh you should be so lucky!!! I’m hoping to get duel registration so can continue on here until banned. Some nice posts on here which I’m sure Brownie Junior will appreciate, my only moan would be the raising of money, you’ve all watched, spoken to and got to know Sam over the past 8 years and if anyone honestly thinks it’s a money related decision sorry but your poor judges of character. I’ve been watching Diamonds for 23 years so despite once being called a different kind of supporter and only being there because of Sam (by a senior club official) I’m sure I’ll see you all a few times during the coming seasons, sadly I’ve actually grown to like a few of you

Re: Sam Brown
I don’t think I can add anything to what Dowlo said in the opening post to this thread really, Sam has been brilliant for us and we’ve been blessed to have such a talent at the left back slot for so long!
Not just that but he’s a quiet, unassuming and very likeable lad (takes after his mum obviously lol) and we’re going to miss him - big boots to fill for someone !!
Players come and and players go, life goes on, but its always sad when you lose a stalwart of the club like Him!
All the best Sam, I’m sure you’ll forgive me for hoping you have at least two stinking performances this year!

Re: Sam Brown
Out of interest, has Sam actually signed for Banbury United? No mention of him in their match yesterday against Easington Sports and their website has been mentioning recent new signings such as Kevin Langmead and other players from last season including Westbrook who have re-signed.
Re: Sam Brown
It's a sad shame Sam Brown left (Sam Brown was/is a good player) sending my regards to Sam Brown,

Re: Sam Brown
I see Ryan Hughes has signed, according to Jon Dunham. Our recruitment policy is interesting to say the least.
They say we've lost our money we're not famous anymore.....
