Let's face it, if you accept not losing by four or five as acceptable then you've accepted not may more positives results.NN10-Nige wrote: Sat Oct 15, 2022 4:56 pmI disagree,
Was there an improvement in today's performance? yes there were, we didn't concede 4, nor 5, nor 6, nor 7.
Was it an improvement to get to half time without conceding a goal? yes.
Do the team appear to be playing for this manager? yes.
We may have lost but it was better than what we have previously been seeing and we conceded less goals.

That’s a terrible argument. The only thrashings were right at the end when to be fair we really had no defenders. Ilkeston, Basford, hitchin, etc. we were in all of those games and with just a bit of luck it would have been different. If the happy line is well we didnt lose 7 or 5-0 it was only 2 or 3 that’s worrying.

Been reading some of the replies in here and I have to say I am slightly surprised with the lack of patience and empathy for our new manager!
We all knew coming off last weeks heavy defeat that todays game was about resilience and courage. Now although we suffered a 2-0 defeat I think there is some positives to take from the game, however the feeling of losing again will drown those positives out...
We all know some bigger clubs such as Chelsea have adopted the 'hire and fire' approach and have seen some great success these past 2 decades, however we cannot let this mentality slip into our club by a few individuals. Unfortunately we are in a position where we simply need to trust those in charge to make the difference and turn things around. We cannot afford to keep firing managers left right and centre until we find a manager who leads us to great things, especially in a season where we are struggling already! The constant change of management would only have a terrible effect on the players, backroom staff, and the club (including fans ofc).
Some years ago I actually had the pleasure of meeting Maxwell in a local pub where we shared a pint each and discussed all things football! I was unsurprisingly amazed how passionate the man is for the club and he showed good understanding on how to manage a football team. From this I always knew in the back of my mind that if one day Maxwell got the opportunity to manage us I would full faith that he could progress the team! Not only has he taken the job under stressful times but he's already shown improvement 2 games in!!!
We can only go upwards from here and I look forward to each game we play because we are going to slowly find our feet and play some Maxwell ball.
I cannot wait for Maxwell to silence the haters and some trolls (AFCRDPete) and gain some popularity.
Have a good Saturday folks!

Maxwell needs to put his stamp on things and sign some attacking players . Hinds and Furlong has gone , time to replace asap!!!!!!! Goals will stop us bickering
Re: [ Sat 15th Oct ] v Redditch Utd, KO 3pm SLPDC HOME
It's the first time I have put anything on here, I have been a diamond supporter for getting on for 40 years, I was at the match today, and it is obvious we need a striker what we have got have no idea, until we remedy this we are going down, with hardly any senior players, the young lads are doing there best and show glimpses, but that is not good enough, we need a manager with experience of this league and until that is sorted we likely to be relegated. It makers you wonder if this is what certain people want, but whom am I to say!! Thanks for reading my review.

You mean The Times article?
I notice that the article mentions that Michael 'Kit' Carson died on the day his trial was due to start, the Peterborough Telegraph reports the his car collided with a tree, which meant the trial didn't go ahead, I would imagine that was convenient for some of Kit's cronies.
Football is a poisonous world, parents become unhappy that their child didn't make the first team and then throw accusations around, look at it this way, if Joey Barton can get accused of kicking his own wife in the head then it is probably easy to end up being wrongly accused of abusing 11 boys.
As far as I can gather, the Howard Willmott in the article is not the same Howard Willmott that works at our club because if you look at Howard Willmott's LinkedIn profile there is no mention of Histon FC on it.
It mentions Northampton Town 2000-2006 and AFC Rushden & Diamonds 2017-2020, his page is fairly well detailed so if he did work at Histon FC I'm sure he would have also put that on there too as at the time the Histon FC manager David Livermore told Pitchero that Howard Willmott and Brian Page were doing a fantastic job, which shows he obviously held an important role there.
Howard is a common name, Willmott is a common name, more so in the Cambridgeshire area, so the chances of it being our Howard Willmott are slim to none.

I said neither because your account was unduly positive, whereas the other post was the complete opposite and seemingly based more on hatred for Maxwell than the game itself. The truth was somewhere in the middle.NN10-Nige wrote: Sat Oct 15, 2022 4:56 pmI disagree,

We lost because of 2 huge defensive mistakes. I saw a comment that Redditch were much better than us. I disagree, I thought they looked just as toothless as we did and for 70 minutes we were cancelling each other out. Given the options at the manager's disposal I thought we looked solid enough defensively which was a positive but at the other end - to be expected if we can't get Ngwa in to the game for whatever reason - we look hopeless. Likewise the midfield was weak today and gave the ball away too frequently.
Realistically until we address the several issues that remain with the squad most games are going to be like this. Criticise what's happened and the way he's come to be in this position sure, but to come out and bash Maxwell based on today's performance is nonsense.
They say we've lost our money we're not famous anymore.....

While I agree that Maxwell is a good appointment, I don't agree that it would have a terrible effect on the players.AFCRDHome&Away wrote: Sat Oct 15, 2022 5:39 pm The constant change of management would only have a terrible effect on the players
The players are not contracted to the club, at this level they can move on at any point during the season, it's common, you often hear about a player starting the season at club 1, moving to club 2 and then onto club 3 and finishing the season back at club 1.
The players completely stopped playing for Burgess, that shows they wanted a change of manager and that effectively shows that ultimately the players will decide if Maxwell stays or not.
