Just checked - Doncaster had one away win that season - at Peterborough - and it cost them the last play-off place

I don't have the inclination to look up their finishing position in the Conference in 98/99, but they must have been close to suffering a second successive relegation that season. If memory serves, they were in the bottom 3 at the turn of the year and only a late surge (including a 3-1 victory over us at Nene Park, in which Ian Duerden scored a hat-trick and Steve Nichol an own goal for us!) kept them up.
