Let them have their two minutes in the sun, they beat us twice I seem to remember?

I'd gladly take the following -

K*ttering Town 0 Duane Darby 2

K*ttering Town 1 Rushden and Diamonds 5

K*ttering Town 1 Rushden and Diamonds 4

It was 4-1 wasn't it? 1998?

Any who, if the football gods are looking down upon us I sense its written in the stars we'll play them in the Hillier Senior Cup this season. After the demotion they're only the 3rd best team in non league football in Northants and must surely be in the hat along with us.

How does an away game at Nene Park sound?

UCL Division One clubs don't play in the Hillier Cup unfortunately.

Does anyone really care about the Hillier Cup anyway? I've always viewed it as a nothing competition and I don't think that will change even now we're in the UCL1 rather than the Conference. For me the focus is the league and the Vase, anything else isn't important.

I thinks its always been viewed as a bit Mickey Mouse but in the next few years it's realistically the only way we might end up playing the Poppies which should make for an interesting game even if its in the Hillier Cup.

Not quite right actually!

It`s not that UCL Division One clubs are not allowed into the Hillier Cup, but a glance at what the competition is really called - the Northants Hillier SENIOR Cup - will give you a clue to its eligibility.

It`s actually for senior status clubs - for example, if Wellingborough Town were relegated (God forbid!) they would still be eligible for the Hillier Cup because they are a Senior club.

So what defines, in Northants FA's eyes, what makes a club 'senior'?

This is the only link I can find, a bit out of date, but Earls Barton?

http://www.northamptonshirefa.com/About ... niorClubs/

However, Long Buckby must now be regarded as 'senior' because they played in this season's Hillier Cup.

I think we should take the place of Rushden & Diamonds. ;)
