Entry in the cup certainly looks related to promotion into the UCL Premier at the moment, with PNS and Irchester joining it for 2010-11 after their promotion, and Thrapston joining in for last season. Similarly Raunds played in it until they were relegated. Both of the two Daventry sides were invited once they reached the UCL Premier.

I assume Thrapston's relegation, plus Nton Spencer's demotion and Daventry United's demise will mean fewer teams in that cup next season - especially as the promoted teams probably aren't part of the Northants FA.

It`s not that UCL Division One clubs are not allowed into the Hillier Cup, but a glance at what the competition is really called - the Northants Hillier SENIOR Cup - will give you a clue to its eligibility.

It`s actually for senior status clubs - for example, if Wellingborough Town were relegated (God forbid!) they would still be eligible for the Hillier Cup because they are a Senior club.

No you're wrong. It's for step 5 clubs and above. Thrapston for example played in the Junior Cup two years ago, Hillier Senior Cup last season having been promoted, Junior Cup again next season following relegation. It depends entirely on what division a club plays in.

They are according to the latest listing on the NFA web-site. Pitchero was the person that said the Hillier was only open to 'senior clubs and so far nobody has explained how the NFA decides who should be in this category. S&L Corby are another club who play in the Hillier but are not listed as 'senior' by the NFA.

Northants clubs in Div. 1 always play in the Junior Cup. Bugbrooke won it this year, final was again held at Nene park :(

I can't wait to see the players that Rolls brings in on £13k pa! I remember when he was at Weymouth there was another 'kids day' a la the 0-9 we were involved in. I think there will be another one of those (assuming they get to the start of the season). :lol:
