It was Raunds Reserve side, some were a little older and were a bit more physical, and have been playing together for a while. A couple of the Raunds lads will play for us too.
I am pretty sure we'll do all right during the season.

What was brilliant is seeing such a good turnout and watching our team again.

Agreed, it was a great turnout and even though we lost, it was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. Sure there's work to be done but we expected that didn't we....roll on the next game :D

Can't argue with the result, they were clearly more used to playing as a team than we were. A good turn out from the Diamonds fans, many of whom stayed to clap the lads off in the club's first proper competitive game. We certainly wont be playing the likes of them in the NSYL. In fact there was one lad who played up front for us who looked a bit good. Also good to see a decent take up of the t-shirts.

Very enjoyable afternoon even if we did lose 3-0.

Great to see lots of people with AFC t-shirts on as well.

Raunds number 7 looked useful, set up their first goal...although he was tired after about 10 minutes!!!

Jim was selling them in the bar and in the ground. There should be someone selling them on Tuesday at the fans forum.

I loved that !! :D

Really enjoyed my afternoon, the football was immaterial to be honest - it was such a proud moment seeing the lads run out, it'll be even prouder next week to see them in their new kit.

Tidy little ground, great clubhouse, friendly staff and a barmaid who worked her socks off to serve us all and did a terrific job, my first impressions of Raunds Town FC were very favourable.

I feel really positive tonight, but the hard work is still to be done. The lads working hard behind the scenes to make all this happen deserve much respect - all their hard work of the past few weeks has paid off, well done guys !!

But they need your help to spread the message and get more people down there at future games. Do you know anyone who used to come to NP but had drifted away? Do you know any of our older fans who may not have the internet who you could tell about future games? YOU are our marketing force and you need to spread the word now that AFC R&D is open for business. This is truly OUR club remember, it'll only be a success if we work at it, we're the ones who will make or break this venture - so get out there and spread the word eh? Today was a terrific turnout with holidays etc (I know of 4 people that would have been there but were away) so our fanbase will only grow.

Regarding today, as has been said by others, they were playing against lads older than them (and some of whom were in the first team) and some of whom will be playing for us once the season starts in earnest, and the lads didn't let us down one bit - sure we lost, but they played with their heads up and didn't give in - well done lads, and well done to Starms - he's had precious little time with theses boys, but they didn't let him down.

Can't wait for Thursday now, I'll be there.................if someone can tell me where Wellingborough Whitworths is that is ;)

Also, thanks to all of you who purchased t-shirts from me - we have some left, so bring your crisp tenners with you on Tuesday eh? :D

Piggers - If you genuinely don't know where Wellingborough Whitworths is, it is literally right behind Wellingborough Town FC (Dog & Duck). There is a short lane on the immediate left of the entrance to Wellingborough Town, just stroll down there.
