Did anyone else see the interview with Stephen Vaughan Snr on Sky Sports News yesterday? He called the CFU (Chester Fans United) "a bunch of idiots" and accused them of trying to destroy the club! He then made a pathetically childish comment about them holding their meetings in a bingo hall, stating that anyone who holds meetings there cannot be taken seriously.

I didn't think it was possible for him to come across as an even bigger c**t than he already did, but fair play to the bloke, he managed it. :roll:

I saw that, and thought the same. Some of the things the Danish consortium are saying have a similar tone, suggesting there is more than a little collusion between them.

It is always very sad when a club with a long history like Chester is faced with expulsion but it is looking as if this is the likely outcome and will be in the long term interests of the city and the fans. As far as the impact on the league table is concerned, I don't think we should bemoan the loss of 3 points. If we do miss out on the play offs it will be the outcome of some poor results before Christmas rather than due to the demise of Chester.

Not if we lose out by 1 point to Luton. We won a game fair and square and through no fault of our own will find ourselves 3 points worse off. Luton failed to beat the same team HOME OR AWAY and will only lose 2 points as a result of Chester's seemingly inevitable expulsion.

Agreed. Also looking at another line of thought, Gateshead would argue that if they hadn't played Chester, they wouldn't have had their defender called Curtis sent off in that match, which would have made him available for their 3 -2 defeat against Kidderminster. Whose to say they wouldn't have got a point from that, had he been available? Obviously we'll never know, but it just highlights the problem that the Conference in trying to deal with Chester fairly.

A similar situation to Weymouth would probably be the best route to go down in an ideal world, with them fufilling their fixtures, even if it is the youth team. Whilst we could see repeats of our result of last year, we would probably see clubs loaning Chester players as well, which may make things at least a bit competitive.

On a serious point, does anyone know if Chester still have a youth team?

On that note i dont know if they have a youth team, but i do know that a mate of mine who is at uni in Chester had a trial with them about a year back. When it all goes wrong, they do at least have the option to tap into a nearby Uni, which could end in uncovering a decent player that otherwise would not have had a chance, I would argue similar to Joe Prodomo, the Weymouth keeper who played against us, who despite conceeding 9, was MOTM. Unfortunately he hasn't progressed that much tbf!
