Shows how good our youth system in England is then doesn't it!davealbon wrote:
I recently looked back through a programme from one of the England schoolboys games about 10 years ago, and hardly recognised any of the names (although Michael Malcolm was one of them, I remember him coming on as a sub and looking awful). I think the only current Premiership player from that squad was a certain Wayne Rooney from Everton, although he didn't actually play in the game!

Re: Premiership players seen at Nene Park
that reminds me dave,
went to see england under 18s at nene park would have been mid 90s. eng won 2-0 and a big lad up front got both goals as well as winning nearly every ball, can remmember my old man saying he would be a big star if he kept going ...the lads name .....emile heskey!

Ian Ashbee and Stuart Elliott -- Hull. Think they both played at Nene Park in 2003. Also, if we are counting friendlies David Bentley for Arsenal and David James and de Canio for West Ham plus several others from those games I should think. I remember having a long chat with David James while my son was collecting autographs down near the players' entrance to the ground.

I wasn't sure but he's right. Kightly scored in Grays 3-1 victory over us at Nene Park in our second game back in the Conference (first home game). Notable for Ranks first goal for us. Aaron McLean scored the other 2 if memory serves.BartonRaz wrote:You sure?Rushdentom wrote:Michael Kightly for Grays (now at Wolves)

You could have 140 years of no achievement, or twenty years of glorious victories, you decide.
