Somehow I felt Cogenhoe were going to get something today. I did post earlier in the week,rather tongue in cheek, that Holbeach were on a downward run after "only" drawing with us and losing to Grantham in the Lincolnshire County Cup.

The slump is now taking on crisis proportions and next week they face Erith in the Vase.

Shame someone had to be seriously hurt. We genuinely wish him a full recovery.

Yeah, no need for sarcastic comments on the injury regardless of what happened last week, hopefully he'll recover.

But still, what a result, superb

Still in their hands with 3 games in hand and only an 8 point gap, but now they know they have to win all 3 games in hand to overtake us, so right now things are looking a LOT better for us.

Our superior goal difference might be worth a point at the end of the season.

There are a lot of positive comments wishing the injured player all the best on this thread so far and I'll add another - never nice to see and hope it's not as serious as first feared. Congrats to Cogenhoe, their recent results in no way suggested they could pull this off and fair play to them, they did it.

Up to us now. Pile more pressure on them and we could do it. In a way we do have a say in their run-in - if we win our matches their games in hand will appear a lot tougher for them, whereas if we do another Oadby they can afford to be a lot more relaxed. Dunkley's last-gasp goal last week could well have contributed to the Tigers' anxious display today.

Funny what a bit of pressure can do...

If my maths is correct, there are now two teams who have their title destiny in their own hands - unfortunately for us they are Holbeach and Wisbech, The Fenmen's recent progress means our game against them on 21st March will be a crucial game - let's hope we don't give them a three-man advantage this time!

Wish Jonny Allen all the best for a speedy & full recovery, at any level bad injuries will always happen but wouldn't wish them on anyone.
On the football front, 3 games without a win, wheels falling off?? Hope all the ex Diamonds involved played a full and active part including of course Sam Heavey from the old Clubs youth set up.
Sure the annoying little s..t will have an excuse, but to use one of his phrases "it's theirs to loose now" and perhaps today they took the first step in doing that. He can at least now go out and spend some of last weeks gate money as he suggested as his existing squad appears incapable of winning a game. Still a long way to go but as things stand at this moment I'd rather be in our position.
