I think it will be a VERY tough game tonight, Barwell showed on Saturday that they are a VERY good side.. but saying that, I believe when we are at home we are capable of beating anyone.

Barwell were just fitter, faster and stronger. Never got going and never looked like scoring from open play. Key players went missing for large portions of the game which was extremely dissapointing. Whoever voted Hoban MOTM must have been watching a different game, I could name 7 or 8 players who had a better game than him. But ultimately when you can't win a second ball or string two passes together against a side from a higher division you are always going to struggle. As proved on Saturday, their GK was shaky but we didnt test him once! The lads will be very disappointed because that was a winnable game if we had turned up.
On a positive note, fantastic to get over the 1000 mark tonight. So good to see the ground so full. Hopefully we'll see an increase in home attendances in the coming weeks

Think the ref let us down big time aswell. We didn't deserve anything from the game but I felt it could've been different if their player was rightfully sent off for the foul on Lorraine as he was the last man. I also think there may have been a case for another sending off for a foul further down the pitch but I didn't see it too well. He also dished out way too many yellow cards for things that should never be bookable. Linesmen were utter sh*te also.
They were ultimately the best team in every department but I can't help but think how much more different it would've been if we'd have been playing against 10 like we should have.

Also, although I don't think it cost us the game, the ref was absolutely wank tonight. I have never seen someone get so many decision wrong.

I hope the players don't feel like they've let anybody down tonight. Barwell are the first team i've seen us play since Spalding 18 months ago that I actually thought were just plain better than us. They deserved to win on Saturday and they deserved to win tonight. They defended magnificently and restricted us to little or nothing, fair play to them.
It's been a brilliant run that we'll all be talking about for the next few years after what happened on Saturday, and tonight was a fantastic night for the club to get such a big crowd at the Dog & Duck. A job well done by all as far as i'm concerned.

I genuinely feel that with a better set-up and game plan, as well as the introduction of Hall and Liversedge (and maybe more than one substitution!), we would've had a better chance. It gets me excited to think where we'll be in a years time. Very proud of the lads in this year's run and think we've made a good account for ourselves. We played very well against Ashton also.BartonRaz wrote:I hope the players don't feel like they've let anybody down tonight. The ref summed up his performance perfectly in the space of a couple of second half minutes; firstly with the ridiculous booking for Joseph for pressuring a defender into falling over (not even a foul, let alone a booking) and then only booking their player for a horrible, studs up lunge on one of our players (not sure who was on the receiving end).
That said, he was not to blame for us losing tonight; we were well below par again, as we were on Saturday, and Barwell were simply better in every department - except the goalkeeper who wasn't tested at all tonight.
Couldn't fault the effort and commitment of the players though, everyone put in a shift and gave it their all, today it just wasn't enough.

Apparently the Joseph booking was for dissent, as was the Hoban (I think?) bookingdavealbon wrote:The ref summed up his performance perfectly in the space of a couple of second half minutes; firstly with the ridiculous booking for Joseph for pressuring a defender into falling over (not even a foul, let alone a booking) and then only booking their player for a horrible, studs up lunge on one of our players (not sure who was on the receiving end).

£17k in prize money, half of the gate receipts of a total of 3,678 fans throughout the run and smashing our attendance record on a Tuesday night. Job very well done!
I think it would've been different if Harris had been at right-back for both games. He would've picked up the attacker at the back post for at least one of the two goals. But that's not to just blame Wilkinson for the defeat. We didn't really create anything tonight, which is a shame but it had to end at some point. Dunno how Hoban was MOTM.
Now we can concentrate fully on the league and we're in a great position to (at least) stay in the play-off places throughout the season and maybe even more. Let's see how long we can keep this unbeaten league run going! I'm not massively disappointed TBH, Saturday's ending was so great and we can take that spirit and desire on for the rest of the season.
