Just looked in on Ploppynet and saw this:

The Poppies have completed the signing of flying winger Jordan Patrick on a one year deal. After being released by Cambridge United, Jordan looks to rebuild his career at Nene Park and eager to be a fans favourite with the Dale Roberts End faithful.

I congratulate them on their signing, should be a decent prospect in the SLP, but I wonder how many of their fans find that comment about the "Dale Roberts End faithful" as distasteful as I do? It seems so wrong to me.

Dale was, and always will be, a Diamond, one of our own and we'll celebrate his memory in our own way - to see his name "used" in this way is sad IMO. I know we've discussed the renaming of the stand at length, and the contempt so many of us have for that, but to see his name used like that.........I don't know, it seems wrong to me

Oh yeah, completely agree, that isn't right at all, very sad, it should have never been renamed that

Considering how fickle their fans are, I think it's the use of the word faithful which is equally as innacurate!

Ps shameless plug - I'm listing a bunch of old diamonds clothing and merchandise on eBay at the moment, feel free to have a search through.

The laws of the universe meant it had to happen eventually, a post on Ploppynet I agree with 110% !!

Have to agree with this. I was never for renaming it after Dale Roberts, as tragic and sad his death was. I think there should be a couple of plaques in memory of Dale and Peter de Banke at the club perhaps in the board room. But now is the time to rid ourselves of our past rivals and rename all the stands with a Poppies connection.

KC, GR, HT - please take note !!

I'm pretty sure both sets of fans have always been in agreement about this. We didn't rename the terrace because the terrace was already named in honour of PDB and they didn't want to do it because he wasn't their player. I'm guessing either Keith Cousins (spit) insisted on it or Ladak tried it as a marketing ploy.

This.

It was part of his effort to get R&D fans to come back to NP to watch K*ttering.

That's dead right, part of the "who wants to watch football at Nene Park", and HT's "chimney pots" would make a bigger football club. Problem for KC was that he stated there was a "good chance" KTFC would change its name, and until that happens it'll never be accepted here but then it would never be accepted by them. I did notice that IL stated that NP needs both sets of fans to make it workable, and he's probably correct. IMO we're doing the right things now.

Popped in the Car boot Sunday (didn,t pay ) Pitch 2 a real mess...looks like £thousands needs to be spent at NP to bring it back to scratch...The whole area looks a complete disgrace.Perhaps the plan is to make it feel like the sh*te heap that was RR was to make them feel at home !

Don't think Ploppies use Pitch 2. I think Pitch 3 is used and they seemed to use the main pitch for training as well, or did last season.
Their 'faithful' ;) are now moaning about the £50 cost of a parking season-ticket for league games only and some think it should be cheaper because they are now two leagues lower! :D
