That would be an unfair comparison, since their first home game is on a Tuesday.

I'm surprised they're even opening the terrace if they're looking to cut costs. The South Stand holds 1,200, so that's plenty of room for crowds of 500.

Yes I aware of that but I was taking into account that they would be playing at a level three divisions higher than us. However, as it is clear that we will get a larger crowd than their first match what are the odds that our crowd against Thrapston will exceed their first Saturday home crowd? ;)

Personally I love a conspiracy theory, wouldn't it be great if we got exactly 600 for our game against Thrapston. It would certainly make ironic Ladaks claim to have 600 Rushden fans ready to watch K*ttering play at Nene Park.

For what it's worth I'm coming on Saturday bringing with me my two boys, as are two friends with their kids, and none of us have had the opportunity to make a pre-season friendly.

I know of 2 people who haven't been to a friendly yet who will be there Saturday (and away the following week) and a further 2 that are playing cricket for the next few weeks but who have purchased season tickets anyway :D

I don't really care about the Ploppies plight, I'm focusing 100% on AFCR&D these days. The important thing is that we start the season well on the field to keep people coming through the turnstiles, we need to grab the attention and winning will do that (hopefully) ! Fingers crossed for a flying start then - it won't be easy and everyone will want to beat us I'm sure !!

In truth the Ploppies should have bigger gates than ours and once the season starts proper I'm sure they will; enough to keep them in business? Well, thats anyone's guess and frankly its none of my concern.

Our challenge is to win back a lot of the fans we have potentially "lost" over the past 12 months, the people who didn't want to watch under 18's football, the people who have got out of the habit of coming to a game on a Saturday afternoon.

If we get 500 at the weekend, with it still being the holiday season, I'll be delighted - any more than that and I'll be ecstatic, less and I'll be a tad disappointed !! An average of 334 for what in truth are three meaningless friendlies is fantastic, especially when you think that not one of them has been a Saturday afternoon or against what can be classed as big pull sides !!

I don't think we'll get a true picture of what our attendances will be until our second home League game at the end of September.

attendances don't win matches, although at our level it will make it intimidating for some sides when they come to the D&D
Let's make some noise Saturday 8-)

Yeah it'll be a completely new experience for the vast majority of UCL Div 1 players, even in our side, other than Hopey of course and perhaps Aynsley, they're unlikely to have played in front of many crowds above 100 I would have thought.

Great post Pigman, totally agree.

My nephew's coming down from Lincoln and is going to attend as many Saturday matches as possible.

I've also asked a couple of guys from work who are over from India to come along and experience a match. Who knows with everyone asking extra people we could get 750+

I agree and it wouldn't surprise me if this happened. However, anything over 500 would be acceptable. ;)
