Better keep my eye on the OS tuesday!
I think they're thinking what I'm thinking. Why the hell would you as a Diamonds fan want to go anywhere near that place unless it is in the away end? This is a club with which rivalries would be renewed if/when we end up in the same division again.

Hardly closet i've said a million times on here that i go and watch them home or away if I can't for whatever reason get to a Diamonds game.
When we were in the same league I didn't go to a Cobblers game (except when we played them, obviously).

As for the 'living in the griggs era' stuff, it's a football pitch, what did they used to do? splash out an extra £50 a season for a top notch set of trowels? Do me a favour, it's not a park pitch.
In a perfect world I'd say Ok, but this pitch sits in the bottom of a valley and there is a water table. Once it's high enough, the water will go nowhere so the pitch gets waterlogged. In the 40 years of watching at NP it always has suffered this problem, particularly along the South stand side (although it's been better since the pitch was levelled).
I respect your view 2oD as you have been going to NP for a long time. But have to say in the 18 or so years I have been going I have not seen any real water-logging. Like you, I have always marvelled at the fact that even though we sit in the bottom of the valley, we have been able to play in the wettest of conditions. Can remember that even when the practice pitch across the A6 has been under feet of water - hence the rise in the water table, the first team pitch was dry and playable.
Can only think, as Dazzler has suggested, that hard times over the last few years has resulted in a lack of end of season maintenance and the excellent drainage system put in during the Griggs days is beginning to clogg up (no pun intended on the clogg word)..!

Wasn't the Lewes game a couple of years ago called off due to a waterlogged pitch. Think that was even later than this fixture in the season.

Don't know Steve, if so you have a better memory than me, which doesn't come as a surprise.
Maybe it was a sign that things were starting to 'clogg' up.. ;)

It's always going to be hard to adjust from the Griggs times, we've all managed to adjust most expectations, this is a first so it's going to take us by surprise. From now on we know it can happen.

Just spent 20 mins looking through the archives, and I'm wrong  - frozen pitch.
