Re: Paul Hall on Twitter
I really do think that we need to all get behind this in TTT comment, and i 100% agree all the way...
Our aim is to get people through the gate in the first season, not drive them away...
So do we have a fixed price for the whole of the season? Is there no way in which you can do 'pay what you want' for say the first 10-12 games. Surely if people like what they see in the first 2-3 months then they will want to come back and pay the entrance fee after that...call it a trial run.
If not then i dont see why collection buckets for afc shouldn't be the other side of the turnstiles. I will be more than happy to put a few bob in when i go through...

Re: Paul Hall on Twitter
I was going to start a thread about UCL admission prices but, of the 21 UCL sides, I only managed to find admission prices for 9 teams, and only 4 or 5 of those were from the teams official websites.
I can't understand why admission prices wouldn't be one of the first things put on an official website. That along with the postcode/directions/contacts. I couldn't even find an OS for Holbeach.
Anyway, here are the one's I found:
Kings Lynn - £8
Yaxley - £6
St Ives - £5
Spalding - £5
Cogenhoe - £5
Irchester - £5
Newport Pagnell - £5
Peterborough Northern Star - £5 inc. Programme.
Boston Town - £3

It's a no-brainer for me - we have got to charge the same as everyone else, 4 or 5 quid. Likewise we should not be paying players any more than the going rate.
We should not be making any kind of assumptions on attendance figures next year - base it on this year. Yes some people will come back next year becuase it is senior football and it is on a Saturday but you cannot suddenly expect the crowds to go from 250-300 to 700. We only had 759 at home to FGR in the conference at NP in the last season.
As I said in a previous post it's really important that we have a successful first season and to that end if it's the UCL Div1 that gives us the best chance of that then so be it. Who's to say we can even compete it Div1 ? The minute we become complacent and start thinking "we're a big club" and "this will happen" or "that is for certain" is the going to be time for a nasty wake up call.
I personally think that unless we are challenging at the top of the league, then after the intial novelty of the first few games you will be looking at crowds of 300. We certainly shouldn't base any budget on anything other than what we know is achievable.

300 is a realistic target, but we could get close to 700 if we get positive results each week and it will be roughly £12 cheaper to get in!luckyfour wrote:It's a no-brainer for me - we have got to charge the same as everyone else, 4 or 5 quid. I think we are already able to pay more than the price is on the gate, I usually pay £5 for league games now when the charge is £2. I doubt anyone will turn it away. Also if we can put an attractive price of £4 we'll be seen to be paying the going rate, then if you choose to pay more (as I shall) then you can.

Re: Paul Hall on Twitter
I don't know if people are being incredibly pessimistic but do we really think we're going to get 300 at games next season?
We got nearly 500 against Woodford didn't we? For an U18's game. We've been consistantly getting around the 300 mark and that is with a whole host of people like myself not attending due to the times of the games or others simply not attending because it's not adult football.
There were a whole host of reasons why we got under 800 for a home game last season. Prices, freezing cold, Champions League, team in bad form having a distinctly average season, nothing to play for, I could go on. If we're getting less than 5/600 at games next season i'll be shocked. Something positive is happening to us for a change, let's embrace it.

Re: Paul Hall on Twitter
A lot of people at Higham ferrers on saturday said they would be there next season once we have a mens side, some of the reasons some of them had stopped was simply te cost ie £17 to get in etc. We have to be careful with the future pricing so that we don,t alienate people again.
Re: Paul Hall on Twitter
Attendance was 406 for Woodford, the highest was 500 for the DRMC game. After the intial hurrah of having a football team again, our crowds have been consistently around the 260 mark give or take 20.
I think it is very likely that for the first couple of games next season we will get 500+ and if we are at the top of the table people will come back and we could sustain crowds up to 700. However, after the first couple of games and if we're mid table then I think 300 is a realistic figure. I am not convinced there is a "whole host of people" just waiting for next season.
I hope that BR is right and I am wrong but I think the key point I was trying to make is that we only budget for a low realistic number. Anything else is a bonus and extra money that can be used to raise capital for the club for future seasons or to help establish a ground of our own. It's not about pessimism, it's about building the club from a secure footing and ensuring it is sustainable - that surely has got to be the number one priority.
Everyone has got there excuses for why they can't make a game and i've heard plenty of good intentions to come to future ones, i've been hearing them for years now regardless of whether it was at NP in the conceference or Kiln Park in the NSYL. Some of these will be genuine i'm sure there will be an increase next year but unless we can offer the feel good factor of cheap prices and winning football then most of the floaters and part timers will soon drift away again. The pricing is something that should be easily achievable but we all know that a winning football team is much harder to create.
