The member/non member distinction was always made on both sets of supporters coaches previously if I recall? I may be mistaken?

The coaches wont be so much of an issue this year, but one hopes will be at some semi-distant future point if things go well. At that point, it would be nice to have cleared up these issues.

I for one would in favour of charging non-members a pound or two more as a helpful stimulus for membership, fundraising and it not being enough to put people off going (I dragged many a friend on away coaches in my younger years).

I too would want see this as a fundraising priority in general, but who knows about specific future matches for the club - we could always make an exception when taking people to a title decider at Bideford in the Southern League one day ;)

Hi Everydayweeker,

Most clubs/associations do charge non-members more for travel so I would think we would probably go down this route (again have to vote with the masses).

Some clubs even charge non-members more money for tickets as well (although that is a different kettle of fish for the distant future). Buying a six pack enables us to get a discount already ;)

Agree with you on the fundraising. My preference is for this to be self-funded as I think that's sensible at this stage, and only run coaches where we have enough demand. For example to go to Harrowby will probably be around £10 give or take a pound or two. Now this might be acceptable to members, but members probably won't want to pay £7-£8 to go to say Northampton Spencer or Wottoon or such places, which is what it will cost, as despite it being a small journey, the most expensive cost is the initial hire/driver's time. The cost per mile reduces the further you go.

(As I suggested on an earlier post), I don't see any reason why as a one-off the club could subsidise one coach for a special match, especially if it would benefit the club in terms of support, etc.

I hope to be able to find out at/before the Members forum whether Harrowby away is a goer. Because if it isn't I very much doubt any other matches would be (because this is the furthest fixture).

On the topic of fundraising, we could do a day out at the seaside for supporters in the summer (probably too late this year, maybe) as unfortunately we don't have a Brighton or Blackpool or Whitley Bay in our division ;)

Maybe you should set up a table at home games, take names & a deposit etc.

I'm putting it on here and am going to put some posters up for tonights game and at the forum.

Can't do much more than that at present I'm afraid.

This was meant to be a feeler to gauage interest in the idea of running a supporters coach. More details will be put on the posters. We did have a few responses on the forum but no PM's to me as yet....

We have a deadline for a coach booking hence the posting on the forum.

Once people know who you are, as you do seem to have popped up out of nowhere, they'll then be able to approach you at games and discuss some of their preferences with you. You'll find a lot of the people who used to travel on the coach don't tend to be regular users of this forum.

Did you follow R&DFC to away games ?

Hi thanks, I agree with your comments. Just trying to stress for this one the need to get things done quickly.

And yes I have popped up from nowhere. Hopefully meet a few people tonight.

Just the odd couple of trips in my time, but thought I'd try to get involved.

Cheers

Well done for taking the initiative on this, unfortunately as most of the game are fairly short journeys it will be difficult to use a coach on a regular basis although should we gain promotions in future the option of a coach will appeal to a lot more people. I dont want to commit to using the coach for Harrowby at present as i tend to go with a few others and enjoy a day on the beer. I will have a word with a a few lads tonight and see if they would be interested. It may be worth seeing you can put something in the matchday programme to ask people to contact you about coach travel etc.

Yes I did think that about putting in the matchday programme but too late for that. But definitely worth considering for the future.

Cheers
