The only thing that I would improve was some of our singing. The 'just can't get enough' chant needs to be learnt properly so it can be belted out. :D
I enjoyed it today too - shame I had to leave just before the third goal (heard the roar as I got in my car!) to start writing website round-ups etc.

However, you have a very, very short memory Sara Pascoe because the u18s have a midweek game on Monday night against a very good Woodford United side.

I had a feeling that once the senior side was up and running the 18s would be forgotten about!
Not a chance Steve, I will be doing the same jobs on monday night, and cheering on the lads as last year 8-)

Although Oadby had a stonking win against Potton yesterday they only had an attendance of 91 blaming the fact that Leicester City were home. A bit disappointing for them I reckon.

Just got up, and I'm still buzzing. It was certainly worth the 2 and a half hour car journey. Loved every minute of it. It was great to see loads and loads of old faces, and quite a few people in old shirts showed that we're attracting some of the older fans back to games. Hopefully that can continue. As has been mentioned, the first half was slightly non-de script, with a couple of golden chances for Thrapston and an Alfie chance for us. Second half we stepped it up, and the two wingers (Jack and Elliot) changed the game for us. Alfie was also much more effective, and showed he is easily capable of scoring 20+ goals this season. My first time to the Dog & Duck, but was really impressed with the whole set up. The terrace was great and helped to create a great atmosphere, and I was very impressed by the whole of the facilities. Well done and thank you for everyone who helped with that. Atmosphere was fantastic, especially in the 2nd half, and it was great to look around and see Diamonds fans everywhere. It's just a lovely feeling to have our club back :D :D :D

That's a bit like Histon and Cambridge United...as our resident Histonian would agree with.

What a fantastic start and what a great day. Everything exceeded my expectations. I didn't think we would get more than about 600. I thought that we may be in for a rude awakening on the pitch and that certainly appeared to be the case in the first half but what a second half performance !

We need to consolidate on this great start, without getting carried away. I wouldn't expect to be able to maintain crowds of that size but if we can put together some good results then who knows? It could go either way now and I think that will largely depend on what happens on the field. I saw a lot of faces that I hadn't seen for a long time but a lot of these were people that will just turn out for the big game or a moment of history just so they can say "I was there". I saw several people that turned up to the first game last season and then I never saw them again or maybe once or twice, like at the cup final. Can we do enough to get these people attending regularly again ? I hope so.

Well done to all of those who made yesterday happen. I have seen how hard some people have worked and it is truly phenomenal, they should feel very proud for this was their finest hour (so far!).

I see Darlington 1883 won their first game at Step 5 3-1 away to Bishop Auckland after being a goal down for most of the game. 2,004 in attendance.

Some great photos. Hopefully someone creative will be able to make a forum banner out of one of them?
