Players looked tired understandably. Atmosphere was flat and it translated onto the pitch.
At the end of the day we're just conceding too many goals it's as simple as that. I can't really put my finger on what the problem is but there's clearly something wrong because all 3 goals tonight were preventable. We've already conceded 26 goals in all competitions this season. We only conceded 22 goals between December and May last term, and 5 of them were against Oadby.
Not going to get too downbeat but there were a couple of things that disapointed me. Firstly, we've paid no attention to their key player Billy Smith, and secondly, why was Lance Allen given about 3 minutes on the pitch? Sub should have been made far earlier IMO.
Fair play to those that came out and supported the club. The attendance could have been worse given the circumstances. It was still our second ever lowest for a league game though.

Subs were very strange tonight.. McBride on when we need a goal, and Allen not brought until deep into injury time??

Teams with pace up front really cause us problems, Jamal is just to static and gets himself caught very flat footed. other than Sam Brown I thought the rest were very poor at the back tonight.
Roll on saturday!!

Overall I think the best team won on the night, our players did look tired though.
Thought Clarke had a very poor game, but the defence were found wanting time & time again, we really don't seem to have much pace at the back.
On another night it could have been a different story, role on Saturday & I'm sure we'll see a much improved performance.

One more thing. I'm sure the video will confirm but i'm 99.9% sure Fazel Koriya scored our second, not Aaron King.

I have to question Starmer, what on earth did his team talk consist of as the players just played like headlesss chickens all manic and no plan, and his subs as usual defied all logic, lance given 3 minutes, Alfie should have been replaced long before that.
The league looks too strong a proposition for us this year, we just have not strengthened in the correct places IMO, we are too inconsistent and are shipping far too many goals, Faz is not the same player from pre-season, but I have a feeling he is being forced to play out of position.
The Vase on the other hand may suit us as we seem a cup team this year, but if we go out of that, the season could be a long dull one.
PS, think judging by the attendance it was tough call on the moving it, TBH I wish I had watched England instead of us huff and puff all night long

(I actually thought it would be the other way around!)
I await Starmer's interview, no doubt he will be honest and up front, which at least I do appreciate.

Another record gone tonight unfortunately, we were unbeaten at home in all first team competitions until tonight (UCL or Hillier cups don't count imo) and disappointed its come at the hands of a mid table UCL side, but fair play to them, they were more up for it, had some quick and tricky players up front and we were, bar a few periods, lacklustre and sluggish for a lot of the game. At half time, I thought we were good to go on and win the game after getting a goal back and having a decent first half, but it wasn't to be and the second half performance was one of the worst I've seen at the D&D from us, few glimpses of our quality, but generally we weren't good enough and PNS punished us.
Deeping's winning run came to an end tonight at the hands of the mighty Boston Town which is a very surprising result, but with 2 defeats now in 6 matches, we're of course a hell of a long way away from even beginning to think about a title challenge. Must say its frustrating, cause attacking wise, I have no doubt we're strong enough to be challenging at the top of this league, on our day we're capable of ripping apart many teams at this level, its just defensively we're obviously not good enough, especially with Spalding having only conceded a single goal this season in the league on the first day of the season.

Agree with the points about the subs and Faz. Like I said on the Dover thread, I was disappointed with the lateness of the subs on Saturday as well, I felt we really needed a couple of subs like Gearing or Lance on around 60 minutes to maybe inject a bit of life into the team at 2-1 down, but we didn't see anyone come on til after their 3rd and while I was pleased to see Gearing come on at a good time tonight, Lance again came on too late.
And was just thinking tonight how I'm still yet to see Faz play as well as he did at Stamford in preseason. After that game, like others I wondered why on earth he hadn't played at a higher level than the SL cause he was superb in that friendly, but I can see why now, a lack of consistency unfortunately.

He was brilliant against Sileby (although they were awful) and is almost solely responsible for us getting a draw away at Dunstable, but I agree on the whole. He's stopped attempting to take his man on and is instead opting for the sideways/backward pass. Not sure if he's lacking a bit of confidence.
