I can't remember from last year how regionalised the draw is, but yeah Spalding and a few other big names enter next, including Dunston, Shildon, Spennymoor and Whitley Bay. We could do with a few all-Northern League ties.

Ed - Marske United lost today, I think they were one of the favourites.

I sort of fancy going to Oadby in the next round. However they thrashed one step 5 side away in the previous round and today won at Retford who are 2nd in the NCEL, so it would be really tough.

Thank God football isn't always that predictable. Woodford perhaps not quite as bad as I had envisaged, but bad enough. Professional job well done.

Mourinho would have been proud of their warm up. Entire squad including subs in the 18 yard box defending/attacking a corner. However, that comedy moment was bettered when mid-way through the first-half a Woodford substitute came to the back of the stand, stood a few yards away from me and lit up a cigarette. I kid you not!

I thought I recognised their central midfielder. Turns out it was ex-pro Lee Colkin, formerly of Cobblers, Leyton Orient, Morecambe, Burton and Tamworth amongst others.

I'm in Reykjavik when the next round of the Vase is played (16th Nov), so I'm hoping for a home draw against Step 6 opposition. Would hate to miss a classic away game.

Thought we were slow to get going, had the chances but didn't make them count. Once the first goal went in there was really only one team who were going to win it.

I agree with BR, in that Woodford were perhaps not as bad as I thought they would be, but I could see why they are struggling to win their games, they didn't seem to have any stand out players.

Looking forward to the draw for the next round. Hopefully another relatively easy draw, I suspect we'll get a team from a higher division, but we're more than capable of matching any team in the Vase (just hope we don't get Spalding!)

I am sure I will be quickly corrected but I am sure the vase is only for steps 5 and 6, so we can't be drawn a team from a higher league.

You're correct, though he may have meant a higher division than Woodford.

It seems that Woodford got their act together today in anticipation of a decent crowd and decided to get in some of the excellent Gun Dog Bad to the Bone ale which is brewed in the same village. Well done to them and to our lads for a relatively easy passage into the next round of the Vase.

If the format for the draw is the same as last season it is still regionalized and I am assuming we are in the southern half this year, going by the teams we have played so far. Last year we were in the northern half albeit the most southerly club.
It only goes national after the third round ( Ashington played Bodmin after beating us).

We could play another UCL team or somebody from the South Midlands Spartan League, now that would be a novelty. Unless they lost today Cockfosters are still in the Vase!!!
