Indeed. They even reached the Conference play offs the season before that, beating Scarborough 7-2 near the end of the season!wewantourdarbyback wrote:How times have changed for Grays.

Arphexad played in the Prtem for Leicester before he went to Liverpool so i'm assuming he played Leicesters friendly against us in 1998.Formic wrote:This could be a long thread !
I'll throw one in, to see who can name who he played for - without cheating ....

Re: Premiership players seen at Nene Park
I attended an England U16 fixture at NP back around 97 and i remember Joe Cole scoring twice against, i think Bosnia.davealbon wrote:I recently looked back through a programme from one of the England schoolboys games about 10 years ago, and hardly recognised any of the names (although Michael Malcolm was one of them, I remember him coming on as a sub and looking awful). I think the only current Premiership player from that squad was a certain Wayne Rooney from Everton, although he didn't actually play in the game!BringBackDuane wrote:Im sure that we must of seen some now Premiership players when England u16s/u19s have played here.
Also Paul Warhurst played against us for Wycombe and pretty certain Steve Nicol and Glynn Hodges played against us for Doncaster!

Re: Premiership players seen at Nene Park
barry hayles played for stevenage and geoff horsfield played for halifax against us during our early conference days. Steve claridge for wycombe. Oh and the starting XI for Arsenal in that friendly was Seaman, lauren, adams, keown, upson, ljungberg, parlour, pennant, grimandi, bergkamp and Henry. Moritz volz scored from off the bench to add to Henry's goal too.

I remember it was a decent line-up, proberbly the best ever to play at NP in a friendly. Alex manninger came on for Seaman and he now plays for Juentus!Drunken Debanker wrote:barry hayles played for stevenage and geoff horsfield played for halifax against us during our early conference days. Pretty sure this is the exact incident I was referring to a day or two ago. Cheers ktfc0rdfc2! Think Tes takes the initial penalty.
