Statement released

I can confirm that the League has ordered the postponement of tonight’s Premier Division fixture between Leamington and K*ttering Town. The decision was not taken lightly but was made after the League Secretary had been in communication with both Clubs and was based on the distinct likelihood that K*ttering Town would be unable to field sufficient players in the game, particularly as they had failed to field eleven players for their home match against Bashley on Saturday. It was considered that it would be totally unreasonable and unfair to Leamington FC and its fans to merely wait until this evening to see whether or not K*ttering Town would turn up with eleven players and members of the League’s Board were hurriedly contacted so that a decision could be reached. I can also confirm that the Board, at its meeting last Wednesday, placed a registrations’ embargo on K*ttering Town and that this will continue until such time as the conditions surrounding it have been satisfied. At the time the embargo was placed the Club had a more than sufficient number of players registered with the League to fulfil their commitments but a large percentage of these were on Monday cancelled by the Club, for reasons best known to themselves. The League will make no further comment until such time as there is a change in the situation. Ken Turner, Chairman

There seems to be an attempt to blame the Southern League for the game being postponed, so the league has released a statement making it clear that when they imposed the embargo, after the players weren't paid once again last week, the club had sufficient players on their books.

It looks like the Poppies have tried to engineer an additional scapegoat in their demise without success (although I suppose the gullible on Poppynet will still believe that the League and FA are to blame) - when clearly if the existing players were paid what they are owed there would be no need for any embargo.

I think the situation is pretty straight forward, the only reason the Poppies want to sign more players is because their current sqaud refuse to play until they have been paid.

The Southern League have done the right thing to stop this farce from continuing.

The only way the game will go ahead on Saturday is if the current players get paid, if there is any left.

Regardless of the game going ahead don't they have a winding up hearing on Monday?

From the Leamington Site (http://www.leamingtonfc.co.uk/)

K*ttering MATCH POSTPONED - WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT! FRIENDLY ARRANGED TONIGHT V BRACKLEY TOWN
--
Leamington FC have been advised late this morning by the Southern League that tonight's fixture against K*ttering Town at the New Windmill Ground has been postponed. As a club we feel it would be inappropriate to comment any further on this at the present time, as it is a matter for the Southern League and K*ttering Town to discuss.

However, with the club also losing a fixture last Saturday due to Barwell's continued involvement in the FA Cup, it is important that the squad get some match practice before the trip to Bashley on Saturday, so to this end Paul Holleran has made arrangements to stage a friendly match at the NWG tonight with Brackley Town, who have made a storming start to life in the Blue Square North this season, winning nine and drawing one of their opening ten games so far.

The club has already incurred costs for bringing in food for the postponed fixture, and also in other areas, and it is hoped that Brakes fans will understand the circumstances and come along and support the club in this game. Admission will be at pre season prices, £5 adults, £3 concessions and Under 16's free. Kick off will be at the usual time of 7.45pm.

The club has also announced that all fans attending tonight will be issued with a voucher that they should retain for use in a future promotion later on this season.

Thank you for your support.

NB** The Brakes Trust has advised that their minibus will be doing a pick up from the Parish Church at the bottom of The Parade at 7.15pm, free of charge.

My post 16 sixth form info evening, due to be at The Diamond Centre, has been cancelled due to "financial instabilities!"

Probably due to the electrical cut off, it really is the end of the world for them isn't it!

I see they are indeed blaming the Southern League on Poppynet for the match being postponed ! What they seem to have forgotten is that the Southern League allowed them to start the season without the kind of Bond to guarantee they'd fulfil fixtures following their CVA that the Conference would have insisted upon (as they did for Wrexham, and would have done if R&DFC had continued).

The Southern League are now looking like they will face all kind of compensation claims from their member clubs if K*ttering do fail to fulfil their fixtures given it was so clear that this was a likely outcome of their admittance into the league.

f*** sake, its everyone's fault apart from K*ttering Town's isn't it?

Christ it might even be our fault for attracting a gate of 1000+ at Hayden Road on Saturday.

I ****ing can't stand their fans, the club runs up a debt and they celebrate a CVA, the club is running up new debt and not paying out on the CVA or paying any of their own players yet its the Southern Leagues fault for not letting them sign more players even though they have already reached their limit.

They ****ing don't get it, the sooner their miserable horrible little club is killed off the better.

How can anybody who pays their bills and taxes on this board have any sympathy for the fans of that shower of shit is beyond me, they danced on our grave and now deserve everything they get.

I'll answer that stalin, they didn't ALL dance on our grave, some of them were quite thoughtful in their comments, whilst accepting we were their rivals, they realised they would lose out on the rivalry as well. I've hated them being at NP, but I've never wished them to go under, as I've said countless times - whats rivalry without rivals?

As fans they're not personally responsible for the plight their club finds itself in, in the same way as we weren't. We went under owing people money too remember, but granted we paid the ultimate price and didn't continue to trade.

I just think its a shame another set of fans will lose their club. Someone is to blame for two football clubs dying (presuming they do !!) at was once a fantastic facility, sadly I don't think the culprits will ever be brought to task over this and will sneek away with their pockets full of developers money at the end of the day.

I have to say I will lose no sleep over them, admittedly they didn't ALL dance on our grave there were enough of the chavs that did. I have just been on fb and apparently they are deliberately trying to fade without paying their (alleged) 2 million debt as they have a new owner/s with over 29 million at his/their disposal.

Just out of interest though Pigman you say you hate seeing ANY club fold. MKpongs????
