Gary Mills...
Re: Gary Mills...
I liked him as a player when he was with us and he always gave 100 and is happy to chase the ball all day long.
I hope he can make a difference because we need something to liven up our midfield..

Re: Gary Mills...
It seems wierd to me that the club chairman and manager have done this deal altough yes it looks like a free transfer but its'nt the club suppose to be going forward an not back its this is a signing that confuses me he's been ere twice already first time yes he was a good player but since his injury against Oxford i agree with many in saying he's not been as good since !!! Hope he proves us all wrong ;) something needs to happen to get us out this slump !! Darby and Jackson anyone lol

Re: Gary Mills...
Quick question for you statto's.. Is Gary Mills the first and only player to have had a third spell for the Diamonds??
I hope he proves us all wrong. I've got complete faith in Justin and although im very much in the minority I can envisage this being a little bit of a materstroke by the Gaffer!

Re: Gary Mills...
Have to say I agree with an awful lot of that - hopefully Mills will add some "steel" to the midfield. Good luck Millsy - hope it works out for RDFC and yourself in the long run.Red Dragon wrote:I don't think Mills got a fair crack of the whip after having recovered from that horrific injury. It always seemed strange to me that we paid his wages for a year, put him through surgery, physio, rehab, you name it, got him to a certain level of physical fitness, then almost as soon as he pulled a shirt on again he was shown the door.
When he came back the first time, he was chasing former glories and trying to regain the confidence he had had before the leg break, a confidence which (though some castigated him for arrogance) was actually one of his attributes which gave him a little bit of an edge at the level we were at at the time. He played OK, I thought, but without that sparky cockiness - nothing special, but he never let us down.
Ever since, it seems to me, he has gone from club to club, trying to make his mark as a holding midfielder in the Ginger Whinger style (that's the little Manc rat, Scholes, for those who haven't guessed). I'm not sure that a team which Justin describes as "fragile" will lose anything, and might gain much, from importing a terrier like Mills into midfield, to sit in front of the back four and form a first line of defence in front of a back four which has been sliced through too easily lately, and which might support and complement the more attacking minded and (dare I say it) lightweight midfielders we have. I think that Justin is looking to Mills to anchor Power and possibly Porter, allowing them more freedom to get forward.
Some might say that if Mills is the answer, it must be a bloody silly question, but I'm not so sure - although I haven't seen as much as the team as most on here, of course, as I am in exile presently in yr hen gwlad fy nhadau - but I think it heralds an attempt by Justin, within the limits of his budget, to stiffen up the midfield and, indirectly, the defence; and thus, one hops, build a platform from which to build attacks on the opposition goal.

Re: Gary Mills...
Well, he's back so I'll give him my 110% support and hope that he proves me wronger that a 6 foot 8 inch tall, 22 stone rugby player dressed in stockings, suspenders and high heels ;)
I have nowt against MIllsy personally, he's a nice enough guy, but I just don't think he's the answer to our problems (and he did act like a cock when he got Tomlin sent off ;) ).......that said, I have no other answer and guessing the budget constraints we're under he's probably as good as we'll get.
Please, please, please prove me wrong Millsy, be the little midfield dynamo we're so sadly lacking and ram my doubts down my throat - I'll be as happy as...... well, a pig in poop if you did that
I'm glad we haven't got a game this weekend, it'll give the players time to get to know eachother a bit, some light training etc and hopefully 3 points on Tuesday.....I live in hope, Tuesday has become a massive game for us now.

Re: Gary Mills...
There are quite a few with two spells. A few people though Jon Challinor might be back for a third spell the other day.CalversonDiamond wrote:TwinkleToesTomlin wrote:Quick question for you statto's.. Is Gary Mills the first and only player to have had a third spell for the Diamonds??
