Whatever the situation I think the players need to stop spouting off on facebook or the pubs of Rushden.

Thing that annoys me most is the majority of fans just accepted the trust selling the club to Cousins with out questioning anything. He may of lost abit running the club, if he owns the land and the club go bust he will make alot of money. I fear the current people are just carrying the can for a previous chairman and his chum to clear up and reap the rewards of the land.

That's certainly not true and I sure Formic will let you have a copy of his dossier on the situation. The Trust had not option at the time and the Club would have folded there and then had KC or another party not taken over.

Agreed - although obviously in the end the majority decided they had little choice but to vote for KC being given control of the assets - or did indeed take the recommendation of the RDFC Fans Trust on face value. Many of us who were part of the online community at the time, notably via the "DiamondDebaters" forum were extremely concerned that the Trust were recommending they should lose control of their assets that Max had given them.

A group of us had meetings with David Suddens and asked to view various documents concerning the transfer that the Trust held, as well as contacting Supporters' Direct - but the problem was that you needed an organisation like a Fans' Trust to question what the RDFC Fans' Trust was proposing.

I still have the "dossier" from those days, which makes interesting reading now as you look at what has gone on since - and what has been revealed subsequently.

Those that wonder what Max might do in today's situation seem to have forgotten what went on back then, and how the assets he created are no longer in control of either the Trust, or the current owners of the Football Club.

I was hoping you would get on the case Formic. You know where you're at, and I can remember a meeting in the Strikers when a group of us was concerned with the changes.Nothing more to say.

I remember those meetings and discussions with David Suddens very well Formic, you'll recall how there were quite a few people opposed to the transfer of the assets to KC, who we were very suspicious of. But there did seem very little choice at the time.

That said, KC kept us afloat when we would have died anyway, the difference being I guess that had we folded while wholley owned by the Trust then we'd have had a better chance of resurrecting ourselves as we would have had assets to sell on and hopefully have "some" capital to rebuild somewhere else......wasn't there some issue about Trust Board members personal liability at the time too if that had happened?? I can't remember.

Now the only assets we have are the players contracts and they can walk away anyway if we don't pay them I understand...........KC still stands to make a tidy little sum from the land ultimately and not be the bad boy for running the club down, a good deal for him and "he who must not be named" !!

I guess my main gripe with Liam and Steve is they appear to have misled people at the recent Fans Forum, whether they did this on purpose, or didn't know all the facts, we don't know at the moment, but they have done little to instill any confidence.

I guess we'll find out during the week, but I'll do all I can to get to Histon because if things are as bad as some feel, it may well be our last game.

Time for me to start swotting up on the finer points of rugby union I fear !!

The Personal Liability point is a good one - and perhaps in the interest of fairness to those who helped keep the club going in those difficult times, before the KC handover, it's worth referring people to the excellent statements made by Peter Rolton and Paul Hadjuk concerning the background to the negotiations that were printed in the programme in late 2006 and early 2007.

I've re-produced a couple of paragraphs from one of Paul's notes on 1st Jan 2007 below to give people an idea of what was being said.

"As I explained a couple of weeks back, the financial situation had to be kept confidential to prevent the club from going into administration, and this included for many weeks not telling the Trust Board. You cannot begin to imagine how hard this was to manage, and led directly or indirectly to two Trust Board resignations. But we somehow battled through, found someone in Keith Cousins who we believed we could work with and did a deal to safeguard the future of the Club. In between we had to see off various undesirables and some other local interests in disguise.

"That the Trust Board has faced criticism is difficult enough to understand - Without the Trust we would have no club. That Keith is facing criticism less than four weeks into his tenure beggars belief - without Keith we would be in administration and facing almost certain relegation. What the knockers do not realise is that in their enthusiasm to be true supporters they are creating an air of negativity about the place that is truly damaging. The final irony would be if those who I am sure genuinely love the Club actually destroy it through their constant doubting and fanciful conspiracy theories. "

I think that last statement still rings true today. PBDevs is still a fledgling business with start-up costs associated that are possibly affecting the club at this time. We must be patient, strong and trust this will change. Most important is that we must give the new people time to turn it around. They have had to firefight the place since they walked in, but have already made improvements to the environs of the club (the car park lights, the North Stand, the pitch drainage to name but 3).
We need grace under pressure guys & gals.

surely if the club folded, there is a ground and land owned by KC and ....., then the option is to sell it and make some money, or give it away (i think there is another club with a ground issue around isn't there).

If anyone wants the land and club surely they need a team to get anything out of it like the hotel etc.
