Just pleased to watch a game on a lovely evening, natter with my mates and bring my dad along.
Clarke looked a bit ropey to begin with, but relaxed and made some good interceptions, and showed that he has pace and athleticism.
Russ showed what he`s all about, and when he and Alfie get on the same wavelength, then we`ll see something.
Wiz and Sean McBride gave their all as usual, and things really started to move when Kingy and Louis Smith were introduced. Aaron`s touch and aggression moved things up a gear or two, and Louis made three killer passes in as many minutes, and it was good to see Jake Reynolds getting a run out.
I was a bit frustrated by the missed chances, I`ll admit, but it`s early days yet, a time for experimentation, to see what works and what does n`t. When it does, then look out.
Congratulations to R&H.

A bit of a disappointing result if I'm honest, but it was only a friendly game.
R&H clearly wanted it more than us, but it seemed very much like a training session on our part!! You'd think R&H had won the world cup the way they are gloating on the UCL Facebook page!!!
I thought our number 11 looked impressive (Nat Liburd?)
On another note, I've never heard so much bull coming out of two blokes mouths, who I assume were R&H fans, as I did last night. Which I had to endure for the whole game!!!
Onward and upwards as they say, plenty more games to go before the start of the season.

It was 1st game & our lot have probably had about an hour with the ball pre season so far & lots of fitness work. Half of our starting outfield 10 were new players so the first 25 mins was I thought very good but sadly went down hill though the were some plus points. Ashley Deeney looked no more than ok but presume with who he has played for that was not his best night & more to come. Clarke again ok & to be fair Deaks the same, but then Hopey & Deaks at Eynesbury last season (first game together) not good at all, but remember what came after that :!: Sam again by what we have come to expect no more than ok. Whizz looked to almost be trying to hard at times possible feels under pressure relax Whizz & do what your good at :!: Nat again more to come. Grainger nothing fancy but workmanlike. Shan normal hustle & bustle wish he'd slow down some times. Can someone show Alfie a tape of how a big striker works  if he makes runs into channels & plays off Dunks flicks he will get stacks of chances, standing to deep admiring them maybe not so many. Though sure people will soon sort out playing with The Beast at which point it's party time. Note - not sure I like the name as implies a bit of a lump & lots more to offer than that. Subs Louis massive improvement from last year, Koriya looked a live wire, others as would be expected though all that glitters is not gold. Haven't mentioned keepers as to be fair like the rest of us were spectators for the most part. Well done R&H enjoy the moment the little ginger dwarf was right & they did see us this season
final question - I realise half those out there for R&H were from the Mann clan but was the 2nd keeper doing the warm up congenital twins with one head as far to much hanging out between the shirt & shorts to be one body surely

Thursday was a first for the Club which appears to have gone unmentioned. The first time the team has in its history in league, cup or friendly failed to score.

I think we lost 3-0 to luton in a Pre season friendly last season

It was, the friendly where we've failed to score in was Long Buckby away:

Forgot that one probably as one of the 3 games I missed. Though looking at the team that day lets call that a AFC R&D eleven then I'm right with original comment. Hope those going have a good day out today so sorry I'm missing it.

On the corresponding Saturday last season our first ever senior fixture was cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch. :o
