Of course it'll be crap because it's Paul that is commenting. I actually find him to be quite humorous and very often there is something in what he says. this place is like a school ground. EVERY time the UCL page is mentioned on here it is criticised, which seems pointless unless the person that the criticism is aimed at can read this forum. For everyone that leaves the UCL FB page he is laughing at, which just makes it farcical IMO.

Really can't see how we are going to finish above Holbeach now. They have had four tough league games on the bounce and won them all without conceding. We've been in desperate, desperate form, the manager has thrown money at the situation and bought in players, but hasn't addressed the real problem which is our forward line is simply not good enough without Dunkley. The team were like strangers on the pitch today, probably because at least two of them were!
We need a hell of a turnaround now. Can't see where it's coming from. Hope we haven't blown next years budget on the current shambles.

We were truly dreadful today, and have been poor for the last 5 or 6 games, but it's still a long way to the end of the season! We have some serious issues to resolve - ELJ is not consistent enough to gain a regular starting place yet - time after time he'll beat players, but deliver nothing. Dolman in our defence is causing issues with his lack of pace, and is actually impacting our forward play, as he wants to play the long ball all the time, and that makes us a bit one dimensional. Perhaps most disappointing for me was the lack of fight, Oadby made sure that they got to every second ball, we fought for nothing.
The budget comment is well made too - if we have overstretched in pursuit of promotion, that goes against all of our club principles.

You'd need to raise that issue with the Board

Quite a few second guesses and wild assumptions being slung around here. Not surprising when a team with a big following puts in a poor performance, but it's worth bearing in mind that it has already been stated on here (via a first-hand source) that the players & management are aware they let themselves down yesterday, and have admitted it was no where near good enough.
We have an excellent, responsible board who have always made sound financial decisions, a passionate & very qualified manager, some very good players who do their best (but at this level it's nigh on impossible to perform to 100% of your ability every week) and a great fanbase. Things aren't perfect right now (and haven't been for a few weeks) but that's football. 2 seasons ago Oadby had the best team in Div1 and looked like they had the confidence and technical ability to walk the league in January. But they bottled it and finished fourth. Funny old game.

I don't agree with many of the comments made about ELJ, both on here and things I overhear at games. For me, he's one of our best players.
Of all the problems yesterday I don't think team selection was one of them. I didn't look at the team yesterday and think an error had been made in that regard.

What a stupid post.Rushden123 wrote:An utter shambles of a performance with to many things wrong to write on here. I've always been uninspired with having peaksy in charge and is it time to say he is out of his depth? His management skills on the touchline are non existent and his substitutions always to late. We badly miss merril and dunks.
Peasky is, I believe, the only manager in this league to hold a UEFA B (or any UEFA) coaching licence, the only manager who, I believe, has played professionally full time, who would you rather have as a manager? He is the best manager to take us forward and to say he's out of his depth is totally wrong, after the game he was just as disappointed as the fans were about the result and as you'll see on the highlights he knows what went wrong.
Are you serious? Think about what Dolman brings to the team and his impact positively, he is consistently solid, wins the ball in the air and is a superb tackler, the reason he favours a long pass is because 1) he can actually ping the ball pretty well, and 2) the midfield aren't ever giving him the option of playing it into the midfield.zumac18 wrote:Dolman in our defence is causing issues with his lack of pace, and is actually impacting our forward play, as he wants to play the long ball all the time, and that makes us a bit one dimensional.
How well informed are you about the budget? I'm sure the rest of us would really like to know how much each player is on, or is this pointless guesswork? I'd be interested if you could name me any players that you'd bring in to compliment our strong forward line.nsman wrote:the manager has thrown money at the situation and bought in players..Hope we haven't blown next years budget on the current shambles.

Re: [ Sat 10th Jan ] v Oadby Town, KO 3pm UCLP AWAY
It is interesting to note that we have now lost five competitive fixtures this season all of which were away from home. Apart from Hendon the remainder at Yaxley, Hullbridge, Thurnby and Oadby yesterday were on surfaces far inferior than we enjoy for our home matches on the vastly improved firm playing surface at the Dog & Duck and it is clear that we do not adapt our style of play to counteract the home team's style on their bobbly, soft pitches.
Yesterday the back four including Liam Dolman, who as Adam correctly says is usually able to pick a long pass, were very slow to get the ball forward to our wide men who seemed to get frustrated as a result. The one decent run ELJ had drew a yellow card against Earls. Our midfield pairing, as mentioned by others, were getting in the way of each other and appeared unsure of their actual role and as a consequence Lorraine, Joseph and Turner when he came on had zero service indicated by the lack of any decent efforts on goal resulting in the home keeper able to keep his white top very clean!
Back to the Dog & Duck on Tuesday evening, weather permitting, I expect to see an entirely different performance with far more pace, movement and service to our wide men and strikers and would not be surprised to see us score at least 4-5 goals.

Re: [ Sat 10th Jan ] v Oadby Town, KO 3pm UCLP AWAY
In my own opinion no I dont believe peaksy is out of his depth whatsoever, I believe he is the man for the job with a fantastic management team. He shows his passion and disappointment along with the fans. I have only two slight negatives...
1) he is sometimes a bit quiet (not due to being a bad manager) sometimes I think the players need more instructions, which starms was particularly good at..
2) sometimes I believe his subs and timings could be better. 15 mins simply ain't enough time to get into the game.
But other than that I think he's top notch and I certainly won't be joining the peaks out brigade anytime soon!!
I've said it before and I'll say it again about dolman, he scares me one on one. If jack Ashton or Sam brown is around for support then it ain't too bad. There's no getting away from the fact he's strong, good in the air. But should he be one on one he will be out paced or end up bringing the player down to be booked, Hendon for example. His long passes and ability to shoot from distance ain't to bad, but New Years day was frustrating when the long balls were going nowhere..

Re: [ Sat 10th Jan ] v Oadby Town, KO 3pm UCLP AWAY
Good point corby diamond. Yesterday Oadby had the excellent Brown-Hill running at us from midfield, as he did in the match at the Dog & Duck and he was supported by a couple of decent wide men in much the same vein as the difficulties we experienced against Thurnby. Both Dolman and Parky have problems against this type of opponent and they expect our full backs to tuck in behind them giving the opponents wide men too much space on the flanks. Of our central defenders only Jack Ashton has the pace to match our opponents speed.
