Rob it's often just you and I telling it how it is, living in the real world and taking the flak. (Except when Three Nips joins in and single handedly pisses off everybody at the club  )
If by telling it how it is you mean being unduly over critical and sometimes going over-board, bang-on ;)

Fact is, yes, this result has been coming and we were hopeful that 1-1 v BPW was us 'getting it out of our system'. It clearly wasn't.

Everything on the field this year will be, rightly, viewed through the prism of promotion, and when Oadby and Sileby have started like they have done, it is right to say that draws v BPW and the recent performances have not been good enough.

HOWEVER - with the U18's, it took time for a new team to gel, and once they did, they were all but unbeatable with Starms. These lads have basically just met in footballing terms, and it will take time for them to bed in. If you think in the real world that Jake Newman isn't up to this level, then I don't know what world you're in. Yes, he and Aysnley in particular have underachieved so far, and calling them out on a message board is fine, but that doesn't mean going above and beyond reasonable worry puts you in the real world.

In my humble opinion, of course!

I also agree with the earlier poster - we need Elliot Dent to put some creativity in the midfield beyond the bustle of Gilsenan and McBride. This would help a great deal.

That was only Newman's third start for the club and as a young lad needs time. I know he's scored a few at previous clubs but i think he'll start scoring every week and does look dangerous at times. Was denigned what looked like would be a certain goal at 2-1 only a great last ditch tackle from their defender prevented that!

Agreed and no one can disagree. That was awful, we need a keeper, a central midfielder and possibly another striker because Newman has been ****ing shit.
Yeah, Newman didn't have a good game today, just seemed too slow and perhaps lacking confidence. And I think I have to agree on a keeper as well, Quincey is dodgy, poor in the air and makes too many risky decisions. Oh and the fact he still insists to piss about with an attacker bearing down on him drives me mad. If they haven't done so already, someone really should have a word with him.

Though as for waking up and smelling the coffee I really don't think anyone is under illusions that vast improvement is needed to get to where we want to be and I'm sure Starms is just as piased off tonight as anyone.

Oadby lost 2-1 to Harrowby at home - as was said last week, teams will drop points in places you don't expect them too.

BPW beat Whitworths 3-0, so while last Saturday was a poor result, it might not be the worst result in the history of football.

There is a lot to have concern over at the moment in terms of 'are we going to go up', but there is a lot of this season left to go, and we will improve.

Presumably the Jake Newman bit isn't referring to me - I actually think he'll be a good player for us he's just lacking confidence at the moment. Also, Aynsley? Who's had a pop at him? Certainly not me as i've known the lad personally for over a decade.

Now that i've thawed out i'll offer some constructive criticism. Our midfield - most notably central midfield - is not creative enough. We're playing with a forward in Ellwood that doesn't have the pace to take himself away from a defender, thus forcing us to try and carve a side open which makes us one dimentional.

Ellwood is our most creative player but he can't create enough because he's not being given the ball. Personally i'd think about moving Morgan and Wisniewski up top either side of Newman in a front 3 (O'Connor, Farrell, Tomlin-style), stick Ellwood in an attacking midfield role and let McBride and Gilsenan mop up in defensive midfield. Morgan and Wisniewski have got the energy to make it a 4-5-1 if we're under the cosh, I just think we've got to try something different. For what it's worth I thought Louis Smith did more creatively in 5 minutes than the other two central midfielders did in the entire game.

Yeah because he took bloody ages to take the shot! Me and the Duke were right in front of it and he really did take his time. Fact is he's been poor since he's come back from holiday and he hasn't looked like he's wanted to be here. I don't think you can go overboard when you lose 4-1, it probably should've been at least 5-1 and if the Eynesbury players hadn't have been time wasting a 4-1 they probably would've gone on to score a few more. We were poor as and it's been a terrible week, 2 points from 9, when at least 6 would've been expected. We have a good team and it should be top 3 even with its deficiencies. I feel really crap right now, I know it sounds bitter but Eynesbury weren't that good I thought. They did cut us open several times but it's not hard to do that, Thrapston did that on the opening day! If we'd been playing Sileby today we would've been absolutely dicked, 7 or 8-0.

It seems that Starmer didn't want to be interviewed after the game today and that's just not on. You face up to your defeats, in the same way you bask in your victories. I think this squad (minus McDonald, Quincy and possibly Newman) are good enough for promotion, but I'm not sure on the manager. I'm not starting 'Starmer out' but that was abject and it comes after two pretty poor performances and I want some signs that things will change.

Oadby lost 2-1 at home to Harrowby BTW so that's fortunate. I can see Sileby absolutely walking this league. (Maybe I should've stayed off the laptop like Pigman!)

Oh f*** off. Come on man, that was a ****ing awful performance, they could've score 5 or 6 if they wanted to. How can you be overly critical when you lose 4-1, Jesus! We should be going so far over-board tonight, that we're drowning in the ocean. Absolutely drowning.

I don't think Everyweeker was at the game. Not that I wish to defend him as he's mugging us both off. ;)
