The referee was abosolutely pathetic. The Joe Merrill red card which (unless there's something i've missed) wasn't even a booking, the disallowed own-goal, and then he even managed to blow for full time only to ask the players to play a further two minutes. Incredible.
I was in the far side of the De Banke, was anybody closer to the Merrill incident that may be able to shed some light on it?
The disallowed goal was technically the correct call as Alfie was challenging the defender so interfering (with play not the player) God knows what the double blow was for  then carry on, the Lino on the far side was half way across the pitch heading home  the Joe incident :o I was standing by the railing right in front of it so about 4 yards away, if Joe said it was an accident that`s good enough for me, but all I will say is from my vantage point my initial reaction was "fu*k Joe what did you do that for" and rightly or wrongly if i`d been the Ref I would have given him a red, though hopefully the footage will show the Ref and me to be incorrect. But they are the negatives so lets move on.
The team performance was for different reasons as good or better than the Colney 6-1, only down side we created enough to be out of sight by the time Joe walked. Special mention (this is unusual for me

) to Starms and the management team. It`s an easy call and very common when you loose a defender to take a striker off reload the defense & rely on breakaways. We were dominating the game but it was a brave move to just narrow things, tighten up & carry on as we were. If anyone had turned up for the 2nd half they would never have known we were a man down, in fact we created enough to have made it an even more embarrassing night for the professional moaners from South Bedfordshire  Great performance and result, I hope those who stayed away to watch the dross I watched at 10.40 when I got home will not make the same mistake again

If anyone thought that AFC Dunstable were an 'average' side based on last night's performance then they obviously weren't at Creasey Park on Saturday where I thought they were the best side we had played so far this season. The difference last night was we were far better, firing on all cylinders, keeping their number 9 quiet, and also their returning leading goalscorer, number 7, restricting his goal scoring chances. Our tactics throughout the match were spot on, so 10 out of 10 to our management team.
The old adage in football is that the opposition only play as well as you allow them. We are a different side with Koriya, King and Liburd in the stating XI playing at a tempo few will match at our level.
Roll on Saturday. Exciting times. ;)

While I'm not a qualified referee, I think you're wrong. Last night I said that I thought FIFA recently had given a strict interpretation of 'interfering with play' to avoid referees seeing incidents various and confusing ways, such as the home Yeovil FA Cup game.
It turns out they have:
http://www.fifa.com/mm/document/worldfo ... w11_en.pdf
In the context of Law 11 – Offside, the following definitions apply:
• “interfering with play” means playing or touching the ball passed or
touched by a team-mate
So I would say, taking this into account, that goal should have stood, and the referee was utterly dreadful.

Would the following paragraph after the one you quote not make the Ref sadly in this instance correct
"making a movement which in the opinion of the referee deceives or distracts an opponent"
Alfie was moving towards the ball which unless the defender was the original "Tommy" from Pinball wizard would I imagine in the Refs OPINION have caused distraction.
Once the wording "in the opinion of" is used black and white no longer exist everything is just a muddy swamp with the only thing that matters in the eyes of the powers that be "His opinion"

I suppose at least the side got a great victory despite this incident, so we don't need to worry too much, but yes, I can see how he could be deemed to have 'interfered with' his eyeline. The side seems sometimes to be galvanised by having a man sent off - the Deakin/Oadby game immediately jumps to mind. It certainly is an exciting journey we're on.

Was Aflie standing in an offside position when king passed it across goal??
If he was then its offside if he wasn't then its a goal, simples don't matter who knocked it in as the defender was stopping Alfie from scoring.
I didn't think Alfie was offside so hope we get to see the replay on this

Was it a Kingy pass :?: thought it was a Dunks shot :?: either way can only assume the Lino thought he was as he stuck his flag up, if he was as soon as he made any movement towards the ball the "opinion" bit applies as he possibly becomes a distraction, but then that would mean Elliot Dents hair is permanently off side
Agree with your comment though if he was off side he was but if he wasn`t he wasn`t

The defender that deflected the ball into the net was goal side of Alfie but Alfie was still offside as there were no other defenders ( or goalkeeper) goal side of him. There needs to be 2 opposition players goalside or level with the attacker for him to be onside. In nearly all cases one of those is the goalkeeper, but in this instance the goalkeeper was in an advanced position up field of Alfie.

[quote="SouthRushdenJFC"]Joe also said that he fouled the bloke and then both their momentums (momenti?) carried them forward and he stood on him.
I think the correct plural would be momenta.

I don't normally moan about referees, but the one last night was shocking, not helped by a lino who was equally as clueless!!
At one point we had a goal kick, which rolled past the linesman on Dales Bar side, crossy had to collect it himself and remarked to the lino "didn't fancy kicking it back then?"
To which the lino replied "I'm not here to do that!" or something along those lines!!!
