Trek wrote:Great effort by the lads, but the gulf in class showed as others have said. Barwell are a very well drilled outfit and I would expect them to be challenging for a play off place in the NPL come the end of the season. In the end of the day they only beat us by a solitary goal and it took them 70 odd minutes to achieve that. Finlay was fairly untroubled most of the match. The lad who scored, Brady Hickey, will surely be a name to watch out for in the future and I understand he's already attracting significant interest from League clubs.
Tremendous turnout from our fans and probably an 'eye opener' for a club like Barwell, who let's not forget, have been established as Step 3 club for a number of years now.
In the end of the day it's been a great Cup adventure, welcomed cash in the coffers for our Club and excellent media exposure. In three FA Cup campaigns since forming we have only succumbed to Step 2 and 3 clubs and taken some 'notable scalps' on the way.
I'm very proud of OUR Club.
We can now concentrate on the League! Bring on Barton Rovers. ;)
Absolutely agree with all the above, and I thought the atmosphere was great, although we would have needed sound proofing if we'd have scored.
The FA Cup is a great escape from league action and we will have another adventure next season. This season can be very successful and we are in a great position to set ourselves a target of nothing less than a play-off place.

I can imagine it's because it'd be pretty difficult to make a programme in 3 days, printing and all
Course there was one, I got one on the way in!!
Oh right, well I was in a good 25 minutes or so before kickoff and looked everywhere and didn't see a single person with one all match, so assumed there had been some problem in printing one in such a short space of time.

Ditto, I looked for Tim as I got in the ground, but no sign of him.

we had no idea we would get the crowd we got last night, given our last league match on a tuesday was attended by 322, we thought we would probably get a crowd similar to a saturday and hence ordered the same number of programmes as we do for a saturday fixture. Apologies to those who didn't get one.

I got one, I didn't expect there to be any with only 2 days notice.

I think huge congratulations must go to Steffanie and her team who produce the programme each game, for getting one produced in such a short space of time. This group of people do not receive the praise they deserve in my opinion.
It was fantastic to see such numbers coming to see AFC R&D play. Maybe now the doubters who said it would never last will begin to appreciate what a lot of hard work has gone in to making this Club the huge success that it is.
Yes it was disappointing to have lost last night and I know just how much the players were hurting, but we must all now move forward and I for one am looking positive towards the future for this wonderful football club of ours. Long live AFC R&D.

You must have been pleasantly surprised with that 1162 then

I think the attendance last night caught everyone out - I thought it might be 7-800 - never thought we'd crack 1000 !!

Couldn't believe it, but was massively proud and delighted.

Just think what we would have got if we'd got a good R1 draw. 1500?
