You've completely missed the point. I certainly wouldn't want to watch a team that adopted such tactics from the off. Its one thing to kill time to protect a lead at the end of the game, but something completely different when it is done from the first minute - along with a myriad of other tactics to get opponents booked, break up rhythm by feigning injury etc.Bob's Bitch wrote:Time-wasting etc are all part of the game. There are 1,001 ways to win a football match and they decided on those tactics. I'm sure if we're ever in a position where we need to time-waste etc and do so, we'd all be up in arms because it wasn't honourable? Nope, didn't think so.

Re: Holbeach's ground. With the March deadline pretty much coinciding with the end of our season, do we know what they need to do to get up to the grade? Or have they done it already?

Ok have had a look at the table and with Holbeach dropping points in 5 out of 22 matches so far this season if you prorata it to their remaining 18 games they will drop points in a further 4 games. That's without a fixture backlog which with the state of the goal area Dunks scored into there's a decent chance of matches being called off in the coming weeks.
That said I'd be ashamed to support a club who's players, management and staff act in the way they do.
Their keeper was funny though giving himself a talking to in the 2nd half

I thought he deserved a start today after scoring 3 in 2. Berwick should have started on the bench as im sure he would have been itching to go from what he would have seen. He never should have left in the first place as he finished last season in great form. I'll be surprised if he and Gearing stick it out until the end of the seasonAFC Airmart wrote:I didn't hear this myself, but a fan behind the dugouts told me that Scott Joseph refused to warm up stating "I'm not playing". Maybe his nose had been put out of joint because Dunkley and Berwick started?

Dreadful spectacle handled disgracefully by the officials. Draw was fair.
Time for a bit of realism I think. Today was a big chance missed and games where Holbeach are likely to drop points are running out, make no mistake we've got to win every remaining game if we want to win the league. We may go up by default because their ground.
Bitterly disappointed with the substitutions and the timing of them. It made no odds whether we lost 1-0 or 4-0. We simply HAD to change things earlier than we did. Gearing should have been on half an hour earlier and to not bring Joseph on was bonkers. Desperately poor decisions.

In all my years playing and watching football I have never seen anything as pathetic as the tactics, time wasting and poor sportsmanship as eyewitnesses today. Is that dwarf really all there. I understand time wasting away from home when your winning with 10 minutes to go but to do it from the first whistle was unreal. as soon as iheard that there was a pitch inspection I knew we would struggle. However second half we dominated so much an equaliser or even a winner would have been was deserved. yet again it was clear to see who was the better team.

Wait for the highlights before making any comments about Joseph.
For me that was a point gained rather than two lost.
Holbeach are now in the driving seat, but even as early as this they are starting to get squeaky bums about fixture pile-ups. It's theirs to lose now, let's see how well they handle the pressure.

Not been so disappointed about Football for ages. You couldn't tell from some of our players performances that this was the biggest game of the season. ELJ was bad, King was non-existent, Rodgers was ineffectual and Harris looked very awkward at RB (I'm more than willing to forgive this as it isn't his natural position).
Feel Peaksy showed a real lack of leadership today, how did ELJ last 90 minutes? Why did it take so long to get Matty Gearing on? Why did he start Harris RB when he had Butt on the bench? Why did Joseph not get on when Dunkley and Berwick both looked lacking match sharpness? He did nothing to change things when we were 1-0 down and they looked more likely to make it 2-0 (Good save from Finners).
Think the thing that annoyed me the most was ELJ slinking down the tunnel as soon as the whistle went. We've just watched his awful performance for 90 minutes, the least the fans can expect is a clap at the end of the game with the other players.

I'll just echo everything that has been said, a frustrating day all round. Actually felt like a defeat to me more than anything. It's a game that really needed to be won imo and It was 2 points dropped.. Holbeach are one of the worst teams I have seen, their constant time wasting and going down in order to run down the clock was shocking, the officials had no control of the game whatsoever!! As for the free kick which took 7 or 8 mins to finally take and dolman hit the wall just about summed up the afternoon.
Thought drury was an absolute disgrace today, his cheating tactics and unsporting behaviour shone, there's simply no need to bait the fans at half time as he did, well done dunks on a superb equaliser, dreary wasn't that vocal at the end was he?
Just one more critisism and that's Elliot lamb Johnson. How on earth is he starting week in week out? Today he had a shocker of a game, his crossing is bad, he gets his final decisions all wrong and he was simply half arsed and damn right lazy today!! Brad had his time on the bench, mcbride, Sam brown.. Now it's Elliot's surely.. Matty gives much more.. Elliot don't deserve the shirt at the moment imo!!

ELJ puts in a decent performance at the dog and duck but on the road he looks bang average. I hope the reason he keeps making the starting eleven isn't because of his family presence, but questions are being asked.
