The unofficial AFC Rushden & Diamonds messageboard

Shine On AFC - with a name like that media/fans will want to know what it means and we can sing the Pink Floyd classic to remind them... Shine On Rushden and Diamonds...

There's obviously no harm in suggesting alternatives but personally I like 'AFC Rushden & Diamonds', I expect that will be the name we agree to but we'll have to see.

I'd like a neutral name if possible. Putting either of the two former names implicates a local connection to that place. We're gonna need to appeal to a wider section of the area.

Nene Valiants FC ? ( a play on Valley, includes both where we're from and the "Denu" taken from RushDEN, original name Risdene - anglo saxon for valley - i.e. rushy valley)

I do admit a personal affinity for The Diamonds FC, but I must put my old connections aside.

Me too, keep as much of our tradition as possible, i'd like the badge to be the same too.

I also think we MUST include both 'Rushden' and 'Diamonds' in the new name. My personal suggestion was simply Rushden Diamonds (i.e. dropping the '&') but I'd be open to pretty much anything including both names.

I do like BR's suggestion of the "AFC, R and D" song.

There must be some definition between the 2 clubs, AFC Rushden Diamonds or Rushden Diamonds AFC and new Badge must show some changes ala the one on the other thread.

If we tried just to copy the old then even after all the stuff floating about i bet there will be some around these parts who think Max still owns the Club and that Max owns the preposed new club.

I understand where you're coming from but I really don't think anyone will be under the illusion that Max is still involved.

Rushden & Diamonds United

I've just scanned through the whole thread and not sure if this option was mentioned anywhere.

Reason i have suggested this is that it includes both 'Rushden' & 'Diamonds' and i think united rings true at the moment, and we will need to be if this pheonix club gets off the ground.
