Re: UCL Division 1??
Some of those UCL Division 1 clubs are happy to remain at that level. However, my local village football club operated at that level for many years and won the division a couple of times to my knowledge. They were prevented from taking a place in the Premier division on both ocassions due to an inability to upgrade their facilities despite having a clubhouse and popular bar as part of the village hall complex. The second time they won the league 7-8 years ago, they became disheartened and dropped out the UCL and then they played a further season, away from the village associated with Corby Town FC as their reserve team, before finally disbanding.
Given our likely support our progress up the pyramid will be largely dependant on our playing facilities.

Couldn't agree more bedforddiamond.bedforddiamond wrote:So perhaps Jim the morale of the story for some fans is don't look at down on club's who don't muster the support you do, they survive in there own merry way and at a level they are comfortable with and can afford to sustain. The original RDFC didn't hang around to long, even when gates were good, it's all about finding a standard and maintaning it with the resource you have.

Re: UCL Division 1??
I dont think it is anything to do with upsetting people it will be about rules, regulations and procedures and red tape
I believe the clubs in the UCL think or are led to believe you will be in Div 1, whether you are will depend on many things. Personally if you are in the Prem it would be good for my club
Div 1 is not the best, the Prem is good but to be succesful you will need to pay players.
Take out Kings Lynn some players in the top third are on between £50-£100 per week, even at the bottom they are on £15-£25 plus bonus.
Most footballers in the UCL will go to another club for a fiver more.
One or two youth lads will help but a team of them will find it very difficult.
Either way some people at your club has put in massive amount of effort and should be applauded and most fans as desperate for Saturday football so any is better than none.

Re: UCL Division 1??
IF it is has already been decided by the powers that be on the UCL management committee that we will be in Division 1 next season, before a formal application has been submitted, then quite frankly that makes a total nonsense of the application procedure.

I think it was decided a while ago that no more new clubs would be put in the premier and would start in div 1. Just my info maybe wrong though.

'itsonlyagame' said previously he/she 'may have given their club away in a previous post. Previous to that post he/she had referred to Rushden & Higham, Thrapston, and Raunds.
He/she denied Raunds, so we're down to two. ;)

I came on to show support and help/advice and another opinion
Sorry if for the rose coloured spectacle brigade some things aren't what you want to hear.
I won't comment anymore as obviously you can only say things people agree with.
Good luck and well done so far to the hard working people
