I can confirm that the majority of the Whitworths`fans` were reserve team players.
I can confirm this as, sadly - and I hate to admit this - one or two were former players of mine from the past.
I spoke to one or two during the evening and they were all a little worse for drink!
Standing to the right of the PDB were three members of the UCL management committee who saw and heard everything!
I would suspect - or at least hope - something might be done about it.
Whitworths have always had this `down-trodden` "we`re the underdogs" attitude.
The majority of their side play Sunday football together - which just about sums them up really. However, what they will do is battle and it was really only after our superior fitness told that they finally caved in.
it will be exactly the same again a week on Saturday - except I would assume their reserves will have a game!

Its ironic really. We constantly have to defend ourselves against accusations (utterly unfounded) that we act like we are too big for this league. Yet, Whitworths turn up and behave like they are big shots playing some rivalry game at a higher level and I'm sure no-one else will be at all bothered!
They just made it look like it was their cup final!

I walked past the group of them at the start of the second half, and felt very intimidated.
I'm sure they muttered something to me, but I kept my head up and kept walking.
Back to the game, as I said in a posting last night, very happy with the result, just prevailed in the end.
Whitworths seemed to lose their heads in extra time, a well done has to go to our lads for not rising to the bait.
Now looking forward to the Rothwell game on Saturday, and another 3 points hopefully.

If we do have this policy of supporting "think before you chant" and it's not working with signs then it seems to me we're going to be needing a more pro-active approach. If you as a fan are upset by what is being sung, get out your mobile phone and use either the camcorder or sound recorder - don't leave it for someone else who is after all a volunteer. Take it to the fans representative or a committee member during the game and request that the AFCRDTV is used to identify those people (it only needs to be a quick zoom in, not detailed nor distracting from the match recording). This can then be used if the police are required, all we'll need is a few signs to warn people that we will not tolerate this.
Discuss. (maybe move this to the other thread ?)
I'd like to echo those thoughts Robin.
If you are upset enough by the incidences last night, then I ask you to write an email of complaint to the league, here

I was fuming about some of the chants, and particularly as we were hosting "Just a ball game" representatives...........they are right cocks, just hope that there is no retaliation the next time we meet 8-)

I guess if Whitworths Reserves have a game on the 29th we won't see a repeat of last night's deplorable behaviour. In any event volunteer stewards should not be expected to intervene in such matters, last night could have been worse especially when a middle aged skinhead positioned himself behind the goal facing our supporters and looking to take on all comers. It could have been very nasty. :(

Whitworths reserves are away to Irchester reserves on September 29th, so the only people from Whitworths at the D&D on the day should be the decent blokes who run the club - let`s just hope the game at Irchy doensn`t get called off!!

Lets hope so... We'll just be left with the group of old gentlemen (I use the term Gentlemen loosely) moaning at the referee & lino's!!!

I did notice they were getting very vocal in the Peter Ebdon Stand during the second half against the men in black. ;)
