Re: [ Sat 30th Mar ] v Oadby Town, KO 3pm UCL1 HOME
Personally I think if we had kept 11 men on the field we would have won that game, and it was never a penalty as it was OUTSIDE the box, I could see it from where I stood!!
Even the Oadby management said we were the better team.
Quincy wouldn't be Quincy without making us all panic! He was immense against Sileby at their place, and quite rightly was man of the match, but then he goes and does something school boyish like he did today (even though I missed it as I was in the loo at the time).. but was told all about it!!
The 824 attendance was nothing short of incredible.

100% yes. Shocking lack of balls by the linesman.TheIncognitoKid wrote: Looked a definate red, only thing i'd argue is that did the foul start outside the box?

I don't want to be mean to Quincy but I think most of us have been calling this for the whole season. I've sort of grown to like him in a goofy Turley-type way but I'd much rather have Ash in goal, he just seems calmer. I just don't know what that goal was. Maybe I'm being selective in my thinking but in trying to come up with points he's saved us I can only think of 2/3 against Sileby away and all of those have been cancelled out by maybe 2 cost against Sileby at home and well who knows about today?
As for the game, I'm really proud of the team for a great performance with 10 men. As one of the board said afterwards "Why the hell can't other teams take points off these two?!" It really defies belief, I expected so much more from Oadby today and quite frankly there were shit. Same goes for Sileby, who are just hoof merchants.
Unfortunately my overwhelming feeling after today's game is resignation and disappointment. I don't think I'm being too negative (hi Chas!) when I say that the season's basically over, we now require snookers. The thought of having to go through this whole, boring season (in terms of football) all over again is just horrible. It's been boring enough (minus a few shining moments) in the first season, I can't imagine how dull it'll be in the second. It's dragged on and on and on, with utterly shit organisation with a couple of pointless cup competitions thrown in.
Great crowd today, Oadby can only dream of 827, Sileby can only dream of 82.7. Well done to them, they'll deserve it if they do go up.
Meh, I'm a sad panda and the only tonic I can think of at the moment is getting to the D&D at 11.30 on Monday and drinking from then until 14.55, before stumbling around the fence to watch us get kicked around the park by Shitworths. I can't begin to express how much I was looking forward to my first R&D promotion as well. I think I actually feel worse than I did post-Oxford, and that's saying something. Football is such a bastard. :( :(

We only moan about Quincy because he's the last line of defence, I personally can't praise him enough and believe that if we'd of had any other keeper throughout the season we would of let in a hell of a lot more goals than we have!!! OK, he makes mistakes but if you weigh them up against the goal scoring sitters that the rest of the team ave missed then Quincy's not cost or lost us any more points than our attackers have!!!!TheIncognitoKid wrote:It's a tough one as i don't think your going to get an amazing goalkeeper at this level. I dont think i've seen a better keeper against us and even Yaxley, a team a league above, had their keeper to blame for us grabbing a victory. I only think he should be replaced if a decent keeper came our way, not just look to replace him!Rushdenjim wrote:That's what Goalkeepers are for? Of course hes going to save us more points than hes lost, every goalkeeper in the land could claim to have that ratio. However Quincy has lost us too many points and more point i would say than other GK's in hes position.ron manager wrote:I refuse to have a go at Quicny, as yes he made a mistake, but by god in the second of the season he has saved more points than lost.

An incredible display by the players today, they dug in deep and could have won it.
I thought that Alfie ran his socks off for the cause and deserved praise today,
Aaron's gopal was top draw and I can't wait to see it again on AFCR&DTV.
A brilliant team performance, well done lads 8-)

We were just so much better than Oadby today.
For the first goal, the foul started way outside the box, the second came from a blatant dive. Then to see Jake and Lance both miss 1on1s at 2-2 was just gutting.
Wis and Kingy were superb. Fans were superb. We'll be in a better place to go up next year.

Believe, we've still got a chance of being promoted... as they say, its not over until the fat lady sings!!!!
Oadby have games on Monday & Wednesday, we WILL beat Shitworths on Monday.
Maybe I'm being optimistic, but I still think we are within a chance, and it won't be the end of the world if we don't, as I have no doubt we'll storm the league next year. (if we're still in this division)

Just so proud of everyone at the club today, the fans the management and the team, we were by far the better team today.
The players could not give anymore and I think people should get off Quincy's back he saved us a number of times this season and goalkeepers at this level are going to make mistakes, as someone else said I haven't seen a better one yet who we have played.
It's important to stay in the hunt until its impossible you never know what will happen look at Oadby's run in, that's a lot of games to play in a short space of time.
And so what if we don't go up this season, if the season had started in January we would be promoted but you just can get a team to gel without time.

What a game. 1 sending off. 1 penalty. 1 goalkeeper howler. 1 other shot on target by Oadby. 1 cracking strike by King. 1 record attendance. 1 awful referee. 1 point. Div 1 next season. :(

I can't add any more to what has already been said, and I'm just immensely proud of everyone connected with our brilliant football club. Just shows how far we've come since those dark days in June 2011. Although we didn't win this afternoon, we didn't lose and boy didn't our players do well?
We may not get promoted yet only lose a couple of games in a 36 match season but we'll be a stronger club from the experiences gained in a season where we didn't have a senior squad last summer and only assembled one from a trial matches. Don't forget AFC Wimbledon didn't get promotion in their first season.
We just need to take maximum points from our remaining matches and hope the pressure on the other promotion contenders causes them to falter.
Roll on Monday. ;)
