Every week he would go for a 6-0 home win, but for that game he decided on 8-0 because Northwich were so crap!
Well remembered, Dave - except that it wasn't "UttoDiamond" who did that, it was his brother ("CopperDiamond"?)!
We played Forest Green Rovers the week after, and I organised a bucket collection for Martin's family. We raised exactly £1400 that night - I know, because I missed the first half of the game because I was counting the money in a little room under the North Stand. We won 3-2 after being 2-0 down, I think, and Collins came off the bench to score two of our goals. I think.

Ah, I knew it was one of the junior Red Dragons! ;)
I remember the FGR game really well. Dazza had had a disappointing season by his unbelieveably high standards, and it was wonderful to see him come off the bench and turn that game around (we we're 2-1 down though, I think). They were his final goals for the club.

Although I went to Hayden Road in my teens to watch Rushden Town, the only Rushden Town game I have noted was on 1st May 1990 when they beat Hednesford 2-0 to win promotion to the Beazer Homes Premier Division in front of 923 fans.
My first Rushden & Diamonds game at Nene Park was against Trowbridge Town in the Beazer Homes Premier Division on 29th August, 1994. Darren Collins and John Flower scored in a 2-1 win in front of 1489 fans. I remember watching this game from the North Stand. The following season, I caught the bug and started to attend most home games. It was not until 21st August,1999 against Kidderminster in a fine 5-3 win did I sample the DeBanke terrace. This is where I stayed right up to the last game, which ironically, was also against Kidderminster on 25th April, 2011.
Like most, I had a fantastic time during the early Conference seasons, the Conference winning season, and Chester with my 4 year old son on my shoulders at the end of the game.
I joined the RDISA so I could get to as many away games as possible. Some of my best memories are from some very drunken away trips with the RDISA. Carlisle away was probably the highlight when we clinched promotion. I still have the flag “We are going up” that I managed to grab at the end of the game when one of the players threw it into the crowd. Then Orient away and singing in a pub before the Hartlepool game the following week.
Billy Sharp’s goal against the Cobblers was my all time favourite at Nene Park. I will never forget the wild celebrations when that goal went in. Paul Hall’s at the Millenium Stadium was by far the best ever goal.
I have so many happy memories of my time as a Rushden & Diamonds supporter and I will sorely miss the banter of the DeBanke terrace on a Saturday afternoon. Most games you always managed to get somewhere near your favourite spot, which for me was at the back and in the middle.I probably only missed a handful of games at Nene Park from 96 to the end.
I personally hold KC responsible for off loading the club to a bunch of clowns and them killing the club in just over six months.
I will need to fill my spare time on Saturday afternoons, which will probably be rugby with the wife, but as soon as AFC Rushden & Diamonds gets going, then I will be back.
Bye for now and I hope to see all the friends I have made over the years at the first AFC game in August 2012, wherever that might be.

I give K*ttering 2 seasons before they are in the same boat as we were.
The Beasants were quite obviously picked to take over as they were an easy target to run Rushden into the ground and with their history it's easy to just put the blame on them. No matter who's fault it was fact of the matter is all the fans have been done over big time and the fact that Rushden has had to bludgeoned to death by dodgy business men makes me sick.
Actually it was IRTHLINGBOROUGH Diamonds old ground well before'Rushden' played there. History lesson for ya.
