Oadby have games on Monday & Wednesday, we WILL beat Shitworths on Monday.

Maybe I'm being optimistic, but I still think we are within a chance, and it won't be the end of the world if we don't, as I have no doubt we'll storm the league next year. (if we're still in this division)
Eynesbury face Sileby and Oadby in the coming weeks and i think until after those results we can't really say its over. Now if Eynesbury were to gain victorys in both and we were to beat Eynesbury we would put ourselves back within a great chance. Lets keep supporting them until the bitter end!

not forgetting the Academy and Community teams Dunk.

Overall we have had more than 200 players from 6 to Hopey pull on the AFCR&D shirt this season.

Great fighting display from the boys today, Oadby should consider themselves very lucky to have picked up a point today. Sorry Gilly but today your lost your crown of goal of the season to Aaron,s cracking goal can,t wait until the highlights to see it again

The players could not give anymore and I think people should get off Quincy's back he saved us a number of times this season and goalkeepers at this level are going to make mistakes, as someone else said I haven't seen a better one yet who we have played.

It's important to stay in the hunt until its impossible you never know what will happen look at Oadby's run in, that's a lot of games to play in a short space of time.
And so what if we don't go up this season, if the season had started in January we would be promoted but you just can get a team to gel without time.
Cracking post.

To be honest, I'm less gutted than I was after the sileby game.

It's a shame because as bozzer says since jan, or the last 14 or so games, we've been the best team in the league, unfortunately for us, the season started in August. But you can't expect a brand new team to gel immediately.

People need to get off quincys back!! He's been fantastic this season, people get on his case cos he's quite casual/composed on the ball and they get worried. I'm sorry but people who don't rate Quincy haven't played the game. Yeah it was a howler, but in essence he's only mis controlled the ball, like all the outfield players have done 3/4 times today.

We showed our class today on and off the pitch and if come away pretty proud of our club. We taught oadby a lesson today, and looking at the behaviour and faces of their officials/fans they know that to. Yes a point wasn't enough, but our season was over before Xmas. If we play how we have since January, next season we'll win the league by 15 points next season.

Our attendance today was three times larger than Corby Town were able to attract for their Blue Square North encounter with Worcester City at Steel Park. Not too shabby, eh? ;)

Sara Pascoe wrote:I don't want to be mean to Quincy but I think most of us have been calling this for the whole season. I've sort of grown to like him in a goofy Turley-type way but I'd much rather have Ash in goal, he just seems calmer. I just don't know what that goal was. Maybe I'm being selective in my thinking but in trying to come up with points he's saved us I can only think of 2/3 against Sileby away and all of those have been cancelled out by maybe 2 cost against Sileby at home and well who knows about today?

As for the game, I'm really proud of the team for a great performance with 10 men. As one of the board said afterwards "Why the hell can't other teams take points off these two?!" It really defies belief, I expected so much more from Oadby today and quite frankly there were shit. Same goes for Sileby, who are just hoof merchants.

Unfortunately my overwhelming feeling after today's game is resignation and disappointment. I don't think I'm being too negative (hi Chas!) when I say that the season's basically over, we now require snookers. The thought of having to go through this whole, boring season (in terms of football) all over again is just horrible. It's been boring enough (minus a few shining moments) in the first season, I can't imagine how dull it'll be in the second. It's dragged on and on and on, with utterly shit organisation with a couple of pointless cup competitions thrown in.

Great crowd today, Oadby can only dream of 827, Sileby can only dream of 82.7. Well done to them, they'll deserve it if they do go up.

Meh, I'm a sad panda and the only tonic I can think of at the moment is getting to the D&D at 11.30 on Monday and drinking from then until 14.55, before stumbling around the fence to watch us get kicked around the park by Shitworths. I can't begin to express how much I was looking forward to my first R&D promotion as well. I think I actually feel worse than I did post-Oxford, and that's saying something. Football is such a bastard. :( :(
I see what you mean and was having similar thoughts as I left the ground today, I remember a few weeks ago after we basically wrapped up the game at Thrapston in 15 minutes feeling a little bored at how easy it was and while its great to win by 4 or 5 goals, it is a little tedious when its because the opposition is so poor and one of the reasons why I really wanted us to go up this season was that I wanted to be in a league with a bit more competition to make it more interesting. One advantage of having such strong competition at the top of the league was that it has been a quite intriguing promotion battle rather than just walking the league and having no meaningful top of the table games.

I expect us to win promotion quite comfortably next season with Oadby and Sileby (I assume) out of the way, there will still be Eynesbury, but other than that I can't see where any other competition will come from, so it could get slightly tedious. Maybe it sounds stupid, but I've always thought its better to win a close league and fight off competition (like we could have done this season), rather than just walk a league winning 5-0 every week and I know if I was a Celtic fan right now I'd be a bit bored knowing we're guaranteed to win the title for at least the next couple of seasons until Rangers are in the SPL again. But still, I'm looking forward to the club's future, I'm sure there will be plenty of exciting times to come anyway!
