Re: Players released
Disappointed about Pattison & Beecroft, but not surprised they have been released.
Hopefully Byrne and the rest will sign new deals.

Re: Players released
Yep, I predict he was one of the highest-earners, and no doubt you can get a lot better for that money at this level. And his performances were disappointing when he played!.. and that wasn't very often.SpudRDFC wrote:Am I the only one gutted that Wolleaston is gone?
He did well for the last two seasons, good enough for his 40k fee I'm not so sure but...
Think we will see him playing against us this coming season, hopefully he'll get a warm welcome!
Re: Players released
No' I'm quite gutted too. Can't get his goals against northwich and stevenage out of my head.SpudRDFC wrote:Am I the only one gutted that Wolleaston is gone?

Re: Players released
Yes and no. It's a real shame that we only saw him at his best for a couple of months when JE first took over. He was hopeless under Benny (but then, Benny could have coached the talent out of Lionel Messi), but in the final few months of the 08/09 season he was outstanding. I had really high hopes for him last season but sadly injuries put paid to that.SpudRDFC wrote:Am I the only one gutted that Wolleaston is gone?
He's in his 30s now, he was almost certainly the highest paid player last season and has struggled with fitness since the start of last season, so it's hardly a surprise that he's been released and it's probably in the best interest of the club.
I still think he offered us something different to any of the other midfielders at the club, but Byrne showed at the end of the season how good he can be going forwards, so if we can keep hold of him I'm sure he will fill the gap that Wolly has left.

Re: Players released
Maybe, but would you rather have Wolly or Byrne?SpudRDFC wrote:Am I the only one gutted that Wolleaston is gone?
Re: Players released
Fair point. Thought Wolly was quality IMO, But Byrne was magnificent this season, so if he stays, I'll be VERY pleased.TheIncognitoKid wrote:Maybe, but would you rather have Wolly or Byrne?SpudRDFC wrote:Am I the only one gutted that Wolleaston is gone?
Re: Players released
Wolleaston was a luxury player who was a passenger in most games. Scored the odd spectacular goal granted, but didn't put the effort in. Did not show the work ethic that JE (or most fans) demand. Very glad to see the back of him, lets have a 100% player like Byrne in his place if we can do it.SpudRDFC wrote:Am I the only one gutted that Wolleaston is gone?
