Forest have just arrived for 6 days pre season training where I am staying in Portugal looks like a full squad but I have seen no sign of Mr Bryne I wonder why I might ask tomorrow

Take Billy Davies hostage and say the ransom is Mark Byrne coming back and playing for us this season.

If they think for one minute he's going to develop under an awful struggling League 2 team who just play hoofball on their awful pitch, they have been seriously fooled. He would have developed more being part of a successful, football-playing team where he feels at home.

Fair enough if he went to a good League 2 team, or even League 1 but that's hilarious!

With Stone having an influence there I don't think they'll be playing hoofball. Plus they've just built some state of the art training facilities.

Fact is development is as much about the player he is up against as the team he is with. In this league he probably couldn't develop much more. He's already too good for this level. Being against tougher opponents to beat, better players etc means he could develop more. Also only a 6 month loan, I wouldn't be surprised to see him impress higher league 2 clubs and spend the second half of the season with a promotion chaser or a League 1 side.

Good luck to him. Would have loved to see him back here, but much like the Billy Sharp situation, it was never going to happen realistically.

Billy Davis is not here I spoke to a Forest player who told me it was 1st team squad only and that Byrne was going to Barnet he is very well rated at Forest and they expect him to challenge for a place soon

I'm reliably informed that the new training pitch is installed on a see-saw like mechanism which allows the pitch to be tilted leading up to home games, but perfectly level before away games! :lol:

Ah, the days of being packed into the little covered section at the side, marveling over the slope, Jamie Young momentary lapse of concentration and Drews moment of madness.
