I'd say that team is about 2 players short of full strength.

As for the players being tired, i expect that these matches would be taking the place of training, or certainly any strenuous training.

The starting XI looks more than 2 players from full strength IMO, but as a squad it's not far off. Miller still isn't available and Osano is rested, that means Huke might be centre-half? Faz is still being saved but will need match fitness sooner or later, same goes for Porter (but he did play for England C). Spot on about training though, I should imagine they're sticking to stretches and walks.

Town manager Graham Turner shuffles his pack a little from Town's second game in the Joma South West Challenge Cup. There are starts for David Raven, Ben Smith, Jake Robinson, Shane Cansdell-Sherriff and Lewis Neal as Town look forward to a tougher test against Rushden & Diamonds.

It was Rushden who got of to the brighter start with a shot within the first minute which tested Ben Smith in the Town goal, and then Smith was put under by his own defence with a short back pass but he managed to get in to clear before the Rushden player could pounce.

Rushden continued to put the pressure on but the Town defence were digging in well to repeat the Diamonds attacks.

It was then Town's turn to put the pressure on and they were causing the Diamonds defence all sorts of problems with Robinson getting in behind on a number of occasions. He cut back the ball well several times to set-up Lewis Neal and Matt Harrold but the Roberts in the Diamonds net was puling off a number of good stops.

Matt Harrold was working the forward line well and offering a good target for Town to get the ball into. He looked to be strong but fair with his challenges but the ref was seeing something wrong and called over Harrold and Town captain Ian Sharps to have a word with the Town forward.

Rushden went close on the half hour mark with a curling shot which dropped over the bar but it was Town who were having the lion's share of the chances. A Shane Cansdell-Sherriff free kick was headed back across goal to find Jake Robinson with an over hard kick but once again Roberts was there to thwart Town.

As the half wore on it was still Town who were having the better of the chances with Disley, Harrold and Sharps all going close but the Rushden keeper was having a great game and stopping anything that went near to him.

Half-time: 0-0
