Just ring 'em up, they'll only ask what time can you get to the ground before kick-off ? ;)

Speaking of leaving it late:

Are Perform Group behind updating Southend's website or is that the number of players they've got so far for their first team?

Southend have a transfer embargo at the moment. I wouldn't be surprised to see our friendly against them cancelled, they've cancelled ones recently.

Hmm,

A bit of basic research shows that they've played their last two friendlies, and the players they have signed on pre-contract terms have played in those games.

I know that when they cancelled some of their early friendlies due to Paul Sturrock having just arrived the Diamonds checked on the state of our game, and Southend confirmed it was still on their schedule.

I had no intention of doing any basic research.

Speaking of which, I see Joe Benjamin is still without a club. ;)

I'm fed up of this now ;)

I did actually get the Joe Benjamin rumour from a very good source, and will be the first time this source has ever let me down.

John Beck is planning for the Stutes to go full-time for fitness reasons since that's the only way to survive in the BSP according to him. As a consequence they are only expecting to pay around £125 per player per week and picking up very young players who have been playing for Cambridge Regional College in the Ridgeons League and is effectively the Cambridge United Youth set-up.

Adam Tann was offered a player/coaching role and the captaincy but couldn't commit to full-time training so won't be resigning.
