Sorry, but regardless of what issues you've got, how do they expect any sympathy from this? Very irresponsible.
Its obvious why they've chosen it on this date, but still, absolutely ridiculous.

If i was a firefighter i would have a very bad sleep that night, one of the most stupid things i have ever heard about.

They are trying to secure their jobs and be able to support their families. I support them for standing up for themselves. I wonder who will be thefirst to complain when there are NO local firestations?

They only have 4 weeks in which to strike a deal. They have been forced into a corner listen again to talksport from today, the drivetime show with Adrian Durham. The leader was interviewed and gave his reasons.

I presume some of the firefighters striking voted Tory in the election.
If they are going to moan over public sector cuts, maybe they should have thought about who they voted in the election, when it was obvious Tories were going to make cuts far quicker than Labour.

I have very little sympathy with the fire service in this instance. At a time when there are millions of people in this country unemployed through no fault of their own, and when widespread cuts are being enforced throughout the public sector, for them to be striking on any day leaves a rather bitter taste in the mouth (and I'm NOT one of the unfortunate ones without a job at the moment).
I listened to the show on TalkSport yesterday, and the representative who was interviewed couldn't give any reason why the strike HAD to take place on bonfire night. If he had been honest and admitted that they'd picked that day because it would have the biggest impact then I would perhaps have a little more respect for him, but by denying it they are just insulting our intelligence.

I kind of asgree that they could have picked any other day, but as he said there is a festival of light (?) on over the same period and allegedly other festivals and np matter when they chose to strike some people would complain. I do however still stand by them in the fact they are trying to save their jobs.
