I wonder who the Conference team might be - one option might be Alty, but they wouldn't give him full-time football. Perhaps Wrexham - or Fleetwood ?

No way. JE has got rid of all the passengers. ;)

90% of the players that JE has signed have made me appreciate that there is very little room for luxury players in this league. It also made me realise that Burge is a luxury player.

If Burge was prepared to put any effort at all into his game he would be the best player in the Northern League 1st Division by a country mile. The fact that Chester are willing to let him go says it all. You can be a luxury player and still put the effort in, just look at Tommo last season, but Burge's problem is that he has no drive or ambition.

I have no doubt that he would still be a very good Conference player, but for every game he really contributed something he would have 10 where he was a complete passenger. It would be a sad day if a show pony were to break Garry Butterworth's appearance record.

If you could put Burge's skill and technical ability together with Jamie Stuart's passion and commitment you would have one hell of a player, but as Dave says, Burge just doesn't seem to have the desire and ambition.

How quickly we all forget. With the captain's armband on and under JE (a decent manager unlike the one who brought him in and thought Woodhouse was a better captain) he put the effort in and was starting to look like the player we know he can be. His perfomance against K*ttering when we won 1-0 at home was a brilliant example, he spent the entire game trying to get his players going, ran to congratulate the youngsters whenever they did something good and worked his arse off.

I think he could be a fine player for us under JE, who gets players working.

But, we have no place for him in our team, so this is not me calling for him to return.

we could do with a player who can pick a pass out.

But when did one of Burge's passes ever lead to a goal?

All fur coat and no knickers. :D
